Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo To Debut At Paris Motor Show

Image
We  heard reports  that it was coming and now official confirmation has been given that the latest-generation Porsche Panamera will receive a variant dubbed the Sport Turismo, set to debut at the Paris Motor Show. This new body style will essentially make the Panamera a Shooting Brake , with the roofline expected to be lengthened and a different rear window implemented. As the name suggests, the model will essentially be a road-going version of the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept introduced back in 2012. That model featured many similar styling traits as the brand new Panamera, particularly with its sleek horizontal taillights. The shape of it was slightly different however and included a flatter and less curvaceous roof and adopted a stylish spoiler. If Porsche is able to clearly relay the differences between the standard car and the Sport Turismo to customers, there's no reason  any significant changes  to the concept will be adopted. The man who confirmed the news, product lin

Daimler Road Map Reveals Mercedes-Benz GLA Coupe, E-Class All Terrain And More AMG GTs

Image
Hidden inside Daimler's half-year sales  results  is a small image that depicts what the Germans have in store for 2017. Joining the  GLC Coupe  and  GLE Coupe , the new GLA Coupe will be one of the first additions to the range. It will probably carry an identical front end as the  regular GLA , the same interior layout and probably most (if not all) of the engine lineup, waiting patiently for BMW to make a similar move with a possible  X2 . The E-Class family is also bound to expand beyond the current Sedan and Estate, with a  two-door Coupe  and the  hairy-chested All Terrain , which will rival the likes of the Audi A6 Allroad thanks to its increased ride height, plastic body claddings and adjustable air suspension. We also have the  E-Class Convertible  on this list, which is currently undergoing testing, so chances are it will go official the year after, when the  CLS  is also expected to turn the page. Mercedes-AMG's product offensive will continue with what seem to be

McLaren quashes rumors of F1 successor

Image
We have to admit we hopped on the hype train when  Autocar  reported earlier this week about McLaren’s plans for a true F1 successor with a similar three-seat layout. That train is now making an emergency stop since the company’s boss Mike Flewitt says it won’t happen because he does not believe there is a viable business case for it. He went on to specify McLaren is often asked to make a V12-powered, three-seater supercar with a manual gearbox, but “it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right thing to do now.” He made it clear by telling journalists gathered at the company’s financial results meeting that “we’re not going to make another one.” Not all hope is lost, though.  Autocar  through the voice of its editorial director, Jim Holder, told  Car & Driver  "I’m entirely confident in the story. It’s well sourced and verified, and a scout around dealer comments and forums should leave anyone questioning its veracity in no doubt about its truth. There are customers and

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Gets Host Of Cooling Improvements

Image
The 2017 Corvette Z06 is set to adopt a number of improved cooling elements to ensure it doesn't suffer from heatstroke like the current car. Not long after customers began taking delivery of the  C7-generation Z06 , reports about the car overheating and suffering from heatsoak came  thick and fast . Corvette executive chief engineer Tadge Juechter says that probably less than 5 per cent of owners experienced the issue but has still made the decision to implement cooling improvements for the 2017 model year to keep owners satisfied. The new elements consist of a redesigned hood with improved cooling vents and some other tweaks at the front-end to better feed the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with fresh, cool air. Incremental increases in power are also a possibility, potentially creeping closer to the  700 hp  and 700 lb-ft of torque mark. Full details about the changes will be announced when production of the updated Z06 commences in the next months.

New Mitsubishi Concept Teased Looks Conspicuously Similar To The eX Study

Image
There's a new Mitsubishi concept coming our way and since the teasing game has begun, we cannot help ourselves from noticing mind-blowing similarities to one  presented last year : the eX.  From the identical shape of the body to the same color, the new concept doesn’t seem to offer any surprises on the outside, even though it carries what seems to be chrome detailing on the grille, a set of roof rails and differently shaped taillights, on top of the  eX . While the latter is tipped to morph into a  zero-emission urban crossover  and rival the likes of the Nissan Juke, the "new" study is said to combine " the toughness of an SUV with the versatility of an MPV ", as Mitsubishi explains in the short text accompanying the teaser. Moreover, it will use a wide body and optimized layout to provide " generous interior space to allow seven occupants to relax in comfort ".  Powertrain details have yet to be released, but the  electric, all-wheel drive setup

McLaren F1 To Be Reborn In 2018 As Powerful GT With Iconic 3-Seater Layout?

Image
We just heard that a new-age McLaren F1  could be created  and now,  Autocar  is reporting that such a model has already been signed off for production and will have a starting price of £2 million, more than double the P1. The publication suggests that the model will be created in extremely limited numbers by McLaren Special Operations and adopt the form of an exceptionally powerful GT car and the  F1's famed three-seat layou t. Those within the Woking-based automaker are apparently referring to the car as a 'hyper-GT' with it providing hypercar performance with the luxury of more subdued cruisers.  A McLaren insider said “It applies the F1’s three-seat configuration to a different need: rapid, cross-continental travel with supreme speed and style. The result will be the most exquisitely crafted and luxurious road-going McLaren yet made.”  Power for the model will apparently come from  McLaren's staple 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine . Unlike the P1, the engine

Clarkson, Hammond, and May finish shooting first Grand Tour episode

Image
Just as the dust has settled after  BBC Top Gear's  latest, controversial season, something new is on the horizon.  The Grand Tour , the upcoming show hosted by Clarkson, Hammond and May, has finished shooting their first episode in Johannesburg, South Africa. The idea behind the show is that the three stooges literally do a grand tour, taking their studio with them in a large tent around the world. These first images released by Amazon Studios depict the tent in location with three pickup trucks parked beside it. A Mitsubishi, a Land Rover Defender and a Toyota Land Cruiser are some of the best choices for negotiating the South African terrain, and we can imagine the three hosts using them as a plot device for this episode. A tent bearing the T and G letters, just reversed, is probably a breath of fresh air after the trio spent years and years shooting in an aircraft hangar in Dunsfold, England. Still, as the Grand Tour show is all new, we don't expect it to be identical to

BMW's 1-Series Sedan Is Here And It's only for China

Image
Making the transition from the  Compact Sedan Concept  to the BMW 1-Series Sedan, Bavaria's smallest four-door model is finally here.  Designed, developed and built solely in the  People's Republic  by the brand's local joint venture, BMW Brilliance Automotive, the vehicle has mostly remained faithful to the study, design-wise, carrying a more toned-down look in the front, larger side mirrors and wheels that are more suitable for real-world driving.  Despite becoming official, the  BMW 1-Series Sedan  is not ready to reveal all of its secrets just yet, though word on the street has it that it rides on the UKL1 platform, the same one that underpins the  2-Series Active Tourer and Gran Tourer  and the  latest-gen X1 . This means that front-wheel drive is standard and the xDrive all-wheel drive is probably part of the options list. Also, we should expect to see the usual crop of 3- and 4-cylinder turbo'd diesel and petrol mills as the two MPVs.  As BMW's fifth

Mercedes-Benz Sends Off The CLS With Final Edition Specials

Image
Launched in 2010, the second-gen  CLS  is on its way out, with Mercedes offering special Final Edition models for both the four-door coupe and the Shooting Brake.  The W218 CLS carried on the original’s unique legacy in the segment, offering customers stylish alternatives to conventional four-door sedans and estates. Sadly, the Shooting Brake probably  won't get a successor  due to the lack of interest in China and the US, the world's two biggest markets. Now, the car maker that  invented  the four-door-coupe niche, is sending them off packed to the gills with equipment.  Visually, in order to emphasize the vehicles’ luxurious, yet sporty character, Mercedes tailored both models in its AMG Line, which includes a diamond radiator grille in chrome, AMG front apron with striking, sporty air intakes, diamond lattice and chrome trim elements, AMG side sill panels and also AMG rear apron with simulated air outlets and chrome trim strip. Completing the look is a bumper-integrated t

Mazda3 Goes Through A Facelift In Japan, Can You Spot The Differences?

Image
Mazda has just revamped the  3 compact hatch/sedan  in its home market, where it is sold under the Axela name.  Previewed by a  leaked image  a couple of months ago, the compact model has a lightly revised front fascia, with a fresh grille, repositioned badge and new headlights. At the other end, changes are even more subtle and can be noticed at the reshaped bumper, which has been tweaked around the reflectors.  Inside, the 2017  Axela/Mazda3  has gained a different steering wheel and tweaked metal trim on the doors and dashboard, while better equipped models benefit from electronic parking brake. The head-up display has been also upgraded, as the info is shown in two levels, and versions equipped with seat memory function can save the position and angle of the HUD.  Higher-spec  trim levels  will get adaptive LED headlights with glare-free high beams and wide-range low beams that operate at speeds of 40 km/h (25 mph) or higher and at 40 km/h (25 mph) or lower, respectively. They a

Facelifted Porsche 911 GT3 Leaks Online, Manual 'Box Looks Likely

Image
A number of images of the facelifted Porsche 911 GT3 have leaked online, giving us a view of the updated model set to  resurrect the manual transmission . These images came courtesy of  Autoforum.cz  and were picked up from an official Porsche configurator on their Dutch website. Immediately, it is obvious that we are looking at the 991.2 generation GT3. Up front, the car sports the slightly reshaped headlights of lesser 991.2 models as well as the more subtle and sleeker LED daytime running lights. Additionally, the new taillights from the 991.2 range are featured, making the rear end of the iconic German sports car that little more aggressive.  As with the current GT3, the  updated model  will feature a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine, rather than the larger 4.0-liter unit of the GT3 RS. Even still, power should rise moderately from the 475PS (468hp) mark closer to the 500hp mark. Beyond the improved engine and new exterior components, the key talking point about the
