McLaren Sabre Debuts With 824 HP And 218 MPH Top Speed

Image
McLaren Beverly Hills has pulled the wraps off the limited edition Sabre. Created by McLaren Special Operations, the Sabre has been designed exclusively for the United States and this allowed the model to use “ideas and innovations that global homologation would not permit.” The company didn’t go into many specifics, but the car features a protruding nose and a prominent front splitter. There’s also a ventilated hood, slender headlights and unique ‘over fenders.’ Moving further back, we can see aerodynamic side skirts, a rakish windscreen and butterfly doors.  However, the Sabre is more notable for its distinctive rear cover and central fin which flows into a massive wing. Rounding out the highlights are an enormous diffuser and a center-mounted exhaust.  Designers also installed lightweight wheels which are backed up by a high-performance braking system. The interior images aren’t very revealing, but the cabin has two-tone Alcantara upholstery, carbon fiber and what appears to be a sm

Lamborghini Debuts New SC20, A One-Off V12 Roadster Built For One Of Its Customers

Image
Meet the Lamborghini’s latest Squadra Corsa project; the one-off SC20. This custom-designed and built roadster was created at Lamborghini Centro Stile, to the exact specifications of an unnamed customer, who was involved in the project from the very beginning. Even though it was designed as a hardcore open-top track car, the new Lamborghini SC20 is also type-approved for road use. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, producing 760 HP (770 PS) at 8,500 rpm and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque at 6,750 rpm. The SC20’s carbon fiber body was slicked down by hand in order to deliver optimal airflow, resulting in comfortable open-air driving even at high speeds, not to mention excellent aerodynamic performance. “Two years after the SC18 Alston, the SC20 was a new, intriguing challenge. The chief sources of inspiration were the Diablo VT Roadster, Aventador J, Veneno Roadster and Concept S, and the result is a dramatic combination of creativity and racing attitude,” said L

Hennessey Venom F5 Debuts With 1,817 HP And Targeted Top Speed Of 311+ MPH

Image
Designed to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary, the Venom GT successor is named after F5 tornados which have wind speeds of up to 318 mph (512 km/h). That wasn’t an arbitrary decision as it hints at the car’s targeted top speed of more than 311 mph (500 km/h). In order to hit that impressive number, the car has been equipped with a specially developed 6.6-liter V8 engine known as the Fury. It’s hand-built and features a cast iron block, aluminum cylinder heads and a dry sump lubrication system. The engine has also been equipped with two turbochargers which enable it to be the “most powerful production road car engine ever made.” In terms of raw numbers, the engine develops 1,817 hp (1,355 kW / 1,842 PS) and 1,193 lb-ft (1,617 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a seven-speed semi-automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. This enables the car to rocket from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in less than three seconds and 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in under five seconds. Sticking with

The New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Is Here To Redefine Chauffeured-Driven Luxury

Image
Mercedes has a new luxury king in its range in the form of the 2021 Maybach S-Class, an ultra-posh take on the already pretty loaded S-Class primarily designed for chauffeured driving. The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class features an 18 cm (7 inches) longer wheelbase, at 3396 mm (133.7 inches), offering an even more spacious environment for the rear passengers compared to its predecessor. There’s also an “active noise compensation” system that sends counter-phased audio signals to cancel road noise before it reaches the occupants’ ears. Depending on the market, customers will get to choose between the Mercedes-Maybach S580 4Matic, which is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 making 496 HP and has a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that provides an extra 21 HP, and the V12-powered S650, which will continue using the twin-turbo 6.0-liter unit with 621 HP, possibly combined with all-wheel-drive as well. Selected markets will also receive in the future a plug-in hybrid version of the new Mercedes-M

New Lamborghini Huracan STO Is A Super Trofeo Racer For The Street

Image
Lamborghini has officially unveiled the Huracan STO and judging by its aero prowess and performance figures, this is shaping up to be one of the most track-competent supercars in the world. Let’s start with its 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 unit and get the fact that it doesn’t produce any more power than it does in the Huracan Evo out of the way. This means 631 HP (640 PS). However, everything goes to the rear wheel exclusively in the STO. Other meaningful stats include the 565 Nm (417 lb-ft) of torque, which is actually less than you get in the Huracan Evo (600 Nm / 443 lb-ft), but also the 2.09 kg/HP weight to power ratio. As you may have guessed, this Huracan has been on a diet and it’s now 43 kg (95 lbs) lighter than the already lightweight Performante variant. This all translates to the asphalt as follows: 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3 seconds flat, 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in 9 seconds flat, and a top speed of 192 mph (310 km/h). “The Huracán STO delivers all the excitement of a beau

2022 Subaru BRZ Debuts With New 228 HP N/A Boxer, Stiffer Chassis And More Tech

Image
Subaru has finally pulled the wraps off the new 2022 BRZ, the second generation of the Japanese sports coupe, which now features an improved chassis, a new naturally aspirated engine, and the same performance focus as its predecessor. Let’s begin with what’s under the bonnet; Subaru opted for a new naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four engine with a redline at 7,000 rpm, producing 228 HP and 184 lb-ft of torque. That’s 15 percent more torque than the previous model. The new engine helps the 2022 Subaru BRZ to achieve an even lower center of gravity and will be paired to either a standard six-speed manual with a short-throw shifter or a six-speed automatic transmission that features a new Sport mode for more rapid downshifts. A limited-slip differential will be standard across the range. Subaru claims that the new BRZ is the lightest 2+2 production sports car in the U.S. market, tipping the scales at just under 2,900 lbs (1,315 kg) estimated. That’s possible thanks to the use of alumi

2022 Infiniti QX55 Marks The Company’s Return To Crossover Coupes

Image
Infiniti helped to kick off the crossover coupe craze when they introduced the FX nearly two decades ago. The company is now continuing that legacy with the all-new QX55. Set to be launched next spring, the 2022 QX55 combines “unapologetic style with inspired dynamics.” While the model is based on the QX50, it features a sportier and more streamlined design. At the front, there’s a prominent mesh grille which is flanked by LED headlights and sportier air intakes with gloss black accents. Continuing down the sides, there’s a rakish windscreen which flows into a steeply sloping roof. The model also has a compact greenhouse, pronounced character lines and standard 20-inch alloy wheels. Fans will also notice that plastic body cladding has been kept to a minimum. The rear end follows in the footsteps of the QX50, but there’s a new liftgate with an angular window and a unique spoiler. The model also features stylish “digital piano key” taillights which each have 45 individual LEDs. Rounding

New Ferrari SF90 Spider Drops Its Top And Brings 1000 HP To The Party

Image
Ferrari has revealed the new SF90 Spider, the droptop variant of the SF90 Stradale and the company’s first plug-in hybrid spider, during a special online event. As expected, the new Spider version of the Ferrari SF90 features the same heavily electrified powertrain as the fixed-roof model, meaning a combined output of 986 HP (1,000 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. The astonishing power figures are a combination of a twin-turbo V8 engine producing 769 HP (780 PS) with three electric motors kicking out an additional 217 HP (220 PS). This also gives the SF90 Spider AWD, while the gearbox is the latest eight-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. Ferrari claims that the SF90 Spider is just as fast as the Stradale in the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) at 2.5 seconds. 0-124 mph (200 km/h) comes in a breathtaking 7 seconds, while top speed is set at 211 mph (340 km/h). Turning the SF90 into a convertible comes with a 100 kg (220 lbs) weight penalty due to the necessary chassis reinforcements and the roo
