Lamborghini Huracan Successor To Be A Hybrid?

Image
Lamborghini says the successor to the Huracan will feature some form of hybridization. While the Italian marque is remaining committed to keeping a naturally-aspirated V12 for the Aventador’s replacement, chief executive Stefano Domenicali admitted to Autocar that the Huracan’s successor will be electrified. “The [next] Huracán – that car will need hybridization. Hybridization is the answer, not [full] electric,” he said. It remains to be seen what engine the brand’s next entry-level supercar will use but there’s no reason why the current V10 couldn’t be tweaked and used alongside a small electric motor and battery pack. The successor to the Lamborghini Huracan should arrive in 2022, giving the company enough time to develop batteries which will be light yet still capable of offering an electric-only driving mode. Ferrari FXX-K Evo Revealed With 23% More Downforce

Image
If you've ever seen an example of LaFerrari up close (much less driven in one), you'd probably have a hard time imagining it getting much more performance-focused. Yet the FXX-K does exactly that – and now Ferrari's rolled out an even more advanced version. Presented for the first time this weekend at the Finali Mondiali event at Mugello, the new FXX-K Evo represents the bleeding edge of what Ferrari's engineers are capable of in the form of a track-only driving tool that's bound to the rules of neither the road nor any racing series. The Evo package represents a significant increase in downforce: 23 percent over the existing FXX-K, and an amazing 75 percent over the road-going LaFerrari. In fact, it now generates nearly as much downforce as Ferrari's GT racing models, with over 1,800 pounds of aerodynamic grip produced at top speed. To get there, the boys in Maranello fitted a new fixed rear wing that works in concert with the adaptive rear sp

Honolulu Bans Texting And Walking While Crossing Streets

Image
Honolulu has become the first major city to implement a ban on walking and texting while crossing streets in the city and surrounding areas. The new law will take effect on Wednesday and allow police officers to issue fines of up to $35 for pedestrians caught viewing their electronic devices while crossing a street. The city says it is rolling out the law in a bid to improve safety. “This is really milestone legislation that sets the bar high for safety,” said City Council member Brandon Elefante to The New York Times. According to studies, people who text and walk are nearly four times more likely to jaywalk or not look both ways when crossing a street, thus making them more likely to be involved in road accidents Hawaii’s capital isn’t the only city looking to cut down on texting and walking. In January, a resolution banning the use of phones while crossing streets will be analyzed by the California Legislature for statewide consideration. Carscoops

Refreshed Citroen C4 Cactus Gains Hydraulic Suspension For A Smoother Ride

Image
Citroen has pulled the wraps of their facelifted C4 Cactus, which becomes the first European model to offer the company’s new Progressive Hydraulic Cushion (PHC) suspension. The system debuted with the C5 Aircross and aims to give the more affordable C4 Cactus a buttery smooth and comfortable ride through a set of secondary hydraulic dampers in each corner which replace the conventional bumpstops at both ends. Citroen has opted for a more comfortable set of the regular springs and dampers in order to further cushion the ride quality. The French company has also redesigned the seats which are now filled with high-density foam for even more comfort over longer drives. Part of the update is of course the new exterior look of the C4 Cactus, which continues to feature the signature Airbumps, only now they’re mounted just above the sills and are smaller in size. Other changes include new bumpers front and back along with physically larger lights all around, making the
