Porsche Taycan Employs Two High-Tech Electric Motors, Puts Out 600+ HP

Image
Porsche recently confirmed the production version of the Mission E would be called the Taycan, and now the automaker has released additional information about its upcoming electric vehicle. Set to debut next year, the Taycan will have an 800 volt electrical system and two electric motors that produce a combined output in excess of 592 HP (441 kW / 600 PS). This will enable it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than 3.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in less than 12 seconds. Furthermore, the model will have a range in excess of 500 km (310 miles) in the New European Driving Cycle. While the company has previously confirmed those numbers, the automaker noted the Taycan will have two “permanently excited synchronous motors, like those deployed in the Le Mans–winning 919 Hybrid.” Billing them as the “turbos of the electric motor milieu,” the motors generate a permanent rotary motion that can be applied at any time without needing to be started. Porsche says they we

Mercedes-AMG A35 Confirmed For Paris Show Debut, A45S Reportedly Coming Too

Image
After pulling the cover off the new A-Class earlier this year, Mercedes is currently working on the AMG-infused versions. The first one, named AMG A35, is expected to premiere at the 2018 Paris Auto Show, at the beginning of October, reports IndianAutosBlog, after speaking to an official within the Affalterbach-based brand. “Yeah, you will see”, answered Mercedes-AMG’s Senior Manager Marketing Communications, Dominik Greuel, when asked about a possible premiere of the A35 at the biggest automotive event of the fall. “In Paris, it (AMG A35) will definitely be for the first time.” The Mercedes-AMG A35 will go head to head with the Audi S3 Sportback. It’s believed to use the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and EQ Boost technology from the new E350 Coupe and Convertible, which produces 299PS (295hp / 290kW) and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100km/h (0-62mph) acceleration should take just a little over 5 seconds and top speed will probably be electronically lim

Audi Teases New Electric PB18 E-Tron Supercar Concept Ahead Of August 23 Debut

Image
Audi will reveal the new PB18 e-tron concept at the Laguna Seca on August 23 before taking it at the 2018 Pebble Beach Car Week in Monterey. The new show car will be an all-electric supercar study, with Audi releasing a dark teaser image of the car’s front end. The name PB18 refers to the Pebble Beach venue and the year of its debut. Audi was careful not to reveal any details about its latest concept, only saying that the PB18 E-Tron is inspired by the Le Mans-winning R18 E-Tron in many of the electric supercar’s details. The German car maker is keen on communicating its focus on electrification and the new supercar concept will act as a halo car for its E-Tron sub-brand. Audi is gearing up for the launch of its first all-electric car, the E-Tron SUV, which is set for a debut on September 17. Order books for the new E-Tron SUV are already open, with customers able to place a $1,000 reservation. The new concept car, which was penned by Audi’s new Malibu Design Loft,  will be

New Bugatti Divo Teaser Reveals Carbon Fiber Aero Blade

Image
Bugatti seems to have put a lot of work into their new hypercar, the Divo, which is a few weeks away from being officially unveiled. However, and before its debut under the California sun at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the new hypercar is still teased by the Molsheim-based manufacturer. The latest picture released by Bugatti on social media previews the aero blade made from carbon fiber and adorned with the red, white and blue colors of the French flag. It also tells us that this example is dressed in black and contrasted by light blue accents. Given the pace at which Bugatti drops teasers with the Divo, and the significance it has for the automaker, we wouldn’t be surprised if it will be way more than a Chiron with a different (or updated) body. And performance wise, it will definitely smoke the ‘regular’ Chiron, although it’s hard to tell yet whether the quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine will be updated in any way to deliver more than the existing 1,500PS (

Milan Red Is A 1,306HP Bugatti Chiron Rival From Austria

Image
A small Austrian car company called Milan Automotive wants to rival the big boys in the hypercar segment, such as Koenigsegg and Bugatti. And they’re planning to do so with the Red, an exotic model that’s powered by a quad-turbocharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that feeds 1,325PS (1,306hp / 974kW) and 1,400Nm (1,033lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission. Milan Automotive says the Red can run to 100km/h (62mph) in 2.47sec, or about the same as the Bugatti Chiron. As for the 0 to 200km/h (0-124mph) and 0-300km/h (0-mph), these take 5.46sec and 9.98sec, respectively. Top speed stands at in excess of 400km/h (249mph), and the Austrian car firm claims the Red is capable of lateral accelerations of 2.6G. The Milan Red is 4,741mm (186,7in) long, 1,197mm (47.1in) tall and 2,156mm (85in) wide, with a wheelbase of 2,750mm (108.3in). It has a curb weight of 1,300kg (2,866lbs), a carbon fiber monocoque and carbon fiber-made panels. T

New Aventador SVJ Will Be Lambo’s Last Non-Electrified V12 Supercar

Image
The upcoming Aventador SVJ is not only the fastest production car around the Nurburgring, but it also marks the end of an era for Lamborghini, as it will reportedly be the company’s last V12-powered supercar without any form of electrification. The news came straight from Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s R&D boss, who told Top Gear that “this is the last time the V12 will be on its own“. That’s right; next time you see a Lamborghini V12 model, it will be electrically assisted. The naturally aspirated 6.5-liter unit in the Aventador SVJ will become the brand’s ultimate V12 engine, expected to feature 760hp (770PS), a screaming soundtrack and the occasional flame popping out of its dual exhaust pipes. “The target for our engineers was to do better than the SV,” said Reggiani, “but for us to say better means to be the best.” That’s a pretty diplomatic way of saying the target for the SVJ was to beat Porsche’s 911 GT2 RS record. With the kind help of Marco Mapell

2019 Audi E-Tron Debuts September 17th, Reservations Will Cost $1,000

Image
Audi has announced the 2019 e-tron will now celebrate its global debut at a special event in San Francisco on September 17th. Coinciding with the unveiling, Audi will release full details and pricing information on their U.S. consumer website. The company says this will allow customers to “configure their e-tron and reserve their vehicle with a refundable $1,000 reservation fee.” Once customers make a reservation, they will be able to track their vehicle’s status online as well as with their local dealer. Audi didn’t go into specifics, but said additional information will be revealed at the event in San Francisco. Besides announcing the debut date and reservation details, Audi released a new teaser image of their first electric crossover. The image isn’t very revealing, but the company introduced a pre-production prototype at the Geneva Motor Show. The prototype showed the crossover will have a wide singleframe grille, small air intakes and slender headlights. The model also h

Mercedes Reveals Smaller 2019 A-Class Sedan

Image
Mercedes-Benz keeps expanding its most compact model line – and this is the latest. It’s the new A-Class sedan, and it’s running full-speed ahead to the North American market. Previously revealed in long-wheelbase form for the Chinese market and as a hatchback for Europe, the new standard-wheelbase A-Class sedan sits alongside the CLA four-door coupe and underneath the larger C-Class sedan. It’s the Silver Star automaker’s rival to the Audi A3 that was similarly be-trunked with US customers in mind, and boasts a rather slippery shape to cheat the wind of its aerodynamic drag. At 179.1 inches (4,549 mm) long and riding on a 107.4-inch (2,729-mm) wheelbase, the standard-wheelbase model is 2.3 inches (60 mm) shorter than the version being made in China – but it still packs everything that Daimler could throw at it. The subcompact luxury sedan features the latest MBUX infotainment system and a full suite of driver-assistance and safety systems – including GPS-enabled

Ford Teases Three New Models Including The Escape, Explorer And Baby Bronco

Image
Earlier this year, Ford held a presentation where they teased a handful of new models including the Bronco, Baby Bronco, Explorer ST and Mustang Shelby GT500. While that’s typically where the story ends, the automaker has released the full presentation and it’s packed with new – although slightly old – photos. Kicking things off, the presentation includes pictures of the 2020 Escape and Escape Hybrid. Both models are shown underneath a sheet, but the images suggest the crossover will have a sportier roofline, an upward sweeping character line and a more rounded design. The redesigned Escape has already been spotted by spy photographers and it expected to be offered with a handful of engines including a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder.  The model could also offer a 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder with up to 180 hp (133 kW). Since we’ve already see the Explorer a handful of times, we’ll skip to the image of the so-called Baby Bronco. The original teaser showed the model’s

Official: Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Lapped Nurburgring In A Stunning 6:44.97

Image
The fourth Lamborghini Aventador SVJ teaser shows the supercar bravely attacking the Nurburgring in a timed lap, and revealing another “best”: the “aerodynamic efficiency”. Equipped with the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA), or active aerodynamics in plain English, the supercar appears to have shattered the Nurburgring lap record of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. In a report published and removed by AMS, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is said to have lapped the German track in 6:44.95. That’s some 2+ seconds quicker than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which did it in 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds last fall. In turn, the German supercar stole the crown from the Lamborghini Huracan Performante’s head, which ran the 20.6km (12.8mi) long course in 6:52.01 six months earlier. Before taking sides, remember that both Lamborghini and Porsche are part of the Volkswagen Group, so this is basically an internal feud, one that led to the development of some of the hottest supercars over the yea
