New Toyota Supra To Show Up In Goodwood Festival of Speed

Toyota will take the new generation Supra to the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed next week, as announced in an official tweet by the company’s European social media channel.

Accompanying the teaser that shows a camouflaged prototype is a short caption that says: “Toyota Supra is back. A90. At Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018″.

Despite looking like an imminent reveal, nobody outside Toyota knows at this point what the automaker has in store. Looking at the single teaser image, it seems that the Japanese company plans to show off the new Supra wearing its final production bodywork wrapped with a colorful camo wrap.

So far, we know that the fifth generation Toyota Supra, codenamed A90, will probably use a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, reportedly producing 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet (500 Nm) of torque. A GRMN derivative will eventually join the lineup, serving as the range-topping model.

Despite having the same underpinnings as the new BMW Z4, the upcoming Toyota Supra will be different from its German sibling, not just design wise, but beneath the skin, too. Tetsuya Tada, the Supra chief engineer, confirmed in a previous report that “both cars have completely different suspension and software calibration”.

The 2019 Toyota Supra will also be priced competitively, from some $63,500 in the United States, according to yet another report. If the number turns out to be accurate, then the Japanese sports car will be some $6,500 more expensive than the base Porsche Cayman.
