Lamborghini Confirms Aventador SVJ, Teases Nurburgring Lap Record Attempt


Lamborghini has confirmed that the upcoming hardcore Aventador will be called SVJ, signaling the return of the iconic Jota name.

The Italian car maker released a short video showing the very same test car we’ve seen before being driven flat out at the Nurburgring, under the title “Aventador SVJ meets the Nurburgring”.

It’s been reported before that the Italian car maker has already broken the production car lap record set by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS with the Aventador SVJ, which allegedly posted a 6min 45sec lap time, two seconds quicker than the Porsche.


Lamborghini has proven the Aventador’s speed around the German track before, with the SV version posting a really impressive 6:59. It was Lamborghini’s fastest model around the Green Hell, up until the Huracan Performante showed up, which lapped the track in 6:52.

The new limited version of the Lamborghini Aventador will get a much more aggressive bodywork that’s fitted with an active aero agenda, which played a key role in the Performante’s Nurburgring lap time.

The 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine is also going to be upgraded as you might expect, from the 730hp of the Aventador S to around 790hp. Combine this with a slightly lighter weight figure and it’s not that hard to imagine Lamborghini re-claiming (and winning) this unofficial Nurburgring trophy.
