New Porsche 718 T Boxster And Cayman Revealed

Image
The Porsche 911 Carrera T has been a hit with enthusiasts and the company is following up by introducing the new 718 T. Available in both Boxster and Cayman guise, the 718 T is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 295 hp (220 kW / 300 PS) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. The engine can be paired to either a six-speed manual or an optional PDK gearbox. The engine enables both models to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.9 seconds with the manual, while the PDK is 0.2 seconds quicker. In Sport Plus mode, the cars rocket to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds before topping out at 170 mph (275 km/h). While the engine carries over from the standard model, the 718 T features a Porsche Active Suspension Management system which reduces the ride height by 20mm. The model also has active engine mounts, a locking rear differential and torque vectoring technology. Styling changes are relatively minor, but the 718 T is distinguished

2020 Land Rover Defender Teased, Could Debut Next Year

Image
Land Rover is getting into the holiday spirit by releasing a new teaser image of the 2020 Defender. Showing the model being unloaded from a trailer, the teaser says “Do not unwrap until 2019.” This suggests the Defender will be unveiled next year, but Land Rover also hinted additional information will be released on December 27th. While the teaser image is surprisingly low resolution, that isn’t much of a problem as spy photographers have already caught the three- and five-door variants undergoing testing. Those photos show the model will have a bit of a resemblance to the LR3, while also being unmistakable as a Defender. In terms of styling, the Defender has a squared off front fascia with a small grille that features a horizontal bar. Further below, we can see a rounded bumper and mesh screens which likely hide large air intakes. Moving further back, the model has pronounced fender flares and slab-sided bodywork. Fans will also notice front fender vents, a rakish win

Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition Arrives With Rear Suicide Doors

Image
Lincoln has officially brought back suicide doors, or coach doors, albeit in a limited edition version of the Continental. Baptized the Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition, it will be put together in just 80 units for the 2019MY, with a limited number to arrive the following year as well. All of them benefit from 90-degree opening rear doors, which facilitate ingress and egress, as well as an electronic door system that makes entry and exit effortless and quiet. Thanks to the extra 6 inches (15.24 cm) added to the wheelbase, it also delivers best-in-class legroom at the back, on the two individual seats, according to the automaker. Greeting occupants is a special door plaque that shows the car’s number in the run, and once inside, they’ll find a stowable tray with tablet holder and wireless charging pad at the back. Drivers will enjoy 30-way adjustable seats, head-up display, Active Noise Control, Revel Ultima Audio system and others. Powering

Huawei announces Nova 4 with hole-punch display and 48-megapixel camera

Image
Huawei has announced the Nova 4 smartphone after weeks of teasing its most standout feature: the circular “hole-punch” cut-out for the 25-megapixel selfie camera. Samsung beat Huawei to the punch (...) by announcing the similar Galaxy A8s last week, but Huawei’s phone looks to have a smaller hole for the camera. We’ll have to see whether that has any implications for image quality. Last week Huawei sub-brand Honor semi-announced the View 20, a phone that looks like it’ll have quite a bit in common with the Nova 4. Aside from the same hole-punch design, both phones also have 48-megapixel primary cameras on the rear. It’s part of a three-camera setup on the Nova 4, but Honor hasn’t shown off the View 20 from behind yet. Unlike the View 20, the Nova 4 is powered by the Kirin 970 processor found in the View 10 and Huawei P20 Pro; Honor’s newer phone will use the newer Kirin 980. Other Nova 4 specs include a 6.4-inch 2310 x 1080 display, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a rear-mounted f

Infiniti Teases Bold Electric Crossover Concept Ahead Of Detroit World Debut

Image
Infiniti will bring a fully-electric crossover concept based on an all-new EV platform at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. According to the carmaker, the new vehicle will reveal “a new form design language for electrification, infused with Japanese DNA.” The announcement is accompanied by a teaser image which allows us a peek at the bold-looking vehicle. The as-yet-unnamed concept model sports slim LED headlights, an illuminated grille frame with illuminated Infiniti lettering and logo at its center, as well as a wraparound design for the windshield and coupe-like sloping roofline. Other visible elements include the rearview cameras, pronounced rear haunches, bulged wheel arches, and massive aero wheels. Judging from this single teaser image, it should be quite a looker. “The concept car we will show in Detroit is the beginning of a new era for Infiniti, and an illustration of where we want to go with the brand,” said Karim Habib, the carmaker’s executive design director. “Elec

Aston Martin Valkyrie V12 Engine Debuts With 1000 HP

Image
After months of teasing, Aston Martin has finally confirmed the Valkyrie’s naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine will produce a staggering 1,000 hp (745 kW / 1,013 PS). Jointly developed with Cosworth, the V12 is being billed as the “ultimate expression of the internal combustion engine.” It’s hard to argue with that sentiment as the engine revs to a ridiculous 11,100 RPM and develops 153.8 hp (114.7 kW / 155.9 PS) per liter. Those are some pretty impressive numbers, but the engine is surprisingly light on torque as it peaks at 545 lb-ft (740 Nm). Of course, those specifications don’t tell the whole story as the Valkyrie will be “further boosted by a battery hybrid system.” Aston Martin is keeping details under wraps, but previous reports have suggested the model will have a combined output of 1,130 hp (842 kW / 1,145 PS). Getting back to the engine itself, Aston Martin says it features titanium conrods, a billet machined crankshaft and F1-spec pistons. The engine has also

Pininfarina’s 1,900 HP Electric Hypercar Will Be Called Battista

Image
Automobili Pininfarina has announced the name of the electric hypercar that will have its world premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Italy’s most powerful and fastest car will be called Battista, as an homage to company founder Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina. The timing of the market launch in late 2020 has been arranged to coincide with the 90th anniversary of Carrozzeria Pininfarina, the famous design house which now starts a new chapter as an automaker. “This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. This hypercar will boast world-beating performance, technological innovation and of course elegant styling. For me, we simply had to call it Battista,” said Pininfarina SpA chairman, Paolo Pininfarina. Previously known by the PF0 codename, the Pininfarina Battista will be “the fastest and most powerful car ever designed and produced in Italy,” according to Automobili Pininfarina.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Is All About Speed, Costs $699

Image
OnePlus and McLaren have officially unveiled the 6T McLaren Edition smartphone during a ‘Salute to Speed’ event at the McLaren Technology Center. The new phone goes on sale in North America and Western Europe this Thursday, December 13, with availability in India, China and the Nordics soon after. In the U.S. it will cost $699, whereas UK buyers will spend £645. Also, it seems yesterday’s leak was incorrect regarding the phone’s full name, as the press release doesn’t mention the term ‘Speed Orange’. Either way, the specs were bang on and here’s what you get if you decide to buy OnePlus’ latest flagship killer: 6.41″ AMOLED display, 16 MP and 20 MP rear cameras, 16 MP front camera, Android 9 Pie OS with OxygenOS custom overlay, Snapdragon 845 chipset, octa-core CPU (4×2.7 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver), Adreno 630 GPU, 10 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, 256 GB storage, 3,700 mAh Li-Po (sealed) battery, 30W Warp Charge proprietary fast charging, dual nano-SIM and USB

Toyota GR Supra GT Concept Teased Ahead Of Tokyo Auto Salon

Image
At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Toyota brought the new-gen Supra closer to production by unveiling the GR Supra Racing Concept. However, it seems that the Japanese automaker is not quite done with exploring the range of the upcoming sports car, as they have now announced another study. Called the Toyota GR Supra GT Concept, it will premiere at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, between January 11 and 13. The only thing announcing its presence at the event, besides the very basic press release, is a teaser image. It shows the profile of the car, featuring a large rear wing sitting on the boot lid and a generously-sized diffuser, along with what seems to be a special color scheme on the outside. Joining Toyota’s new GR Supra GT Concept at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon will be the Lexus LC Nurburgring-spec, Yaris WRC and TS050 Hybrid, as well as a Supra that participated in past domestic races. From this lot, the LC, Yaris and TS050 Hybrid ar

2019 McLaren 720S Spider Combines A Retractable Hard Top With 710 HP

Image
The Mclaren Super Series lineup is growing as the company has dropped the top on the all-new 720S Spider. Following in the footsteps of the coupe, the roadster features a familiar front fascia with distinctive headlights. Bigger changes occur aft of the A-pillar as the 720S Spider has a retractable hard top that consists of a single carbon fiber roof panel. McLaren says the hard top is the “fastest-operating convertible roof in the supercar class” as it can be raised or lowered in 11 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph (50 km/h). Customers looking to fully embrace the open air experience can order an optional electrochromic glass panel for the hard top. It transitions from transparent to tinted at the touch of a button and the panel will automatically tint itself when the engine is shut off. Besides the high-tech roof, the 720S Spider comes equipped with aerodynamic buttresses and an active rear spoiler which automatically adjusts itself depending on whether the roof is op

New Skoda Scala Is Your Affordable Audi A3 Sportback

Image
The teasing days are over as Skoda has finally lifted the veils of its all-new Scala, a vehicle that embodies the Czech brand’s ambitions. The Scala is not just an indirect replacement for the Rapid Spaceback, it’s also Skoda’s first real shot at the highly-competitive C-segment. We’re talking about a car that’s almost as big the VW Golf. It’s 4,362 mm (171.7 in) long and 1,793 mm wide (70.6 in), making it a little shorter and narrower than the German compact segment benchmark. However, it rides on a longer wheelbase of 2,649 mm (104.3 in) and is a little taller at 1,471 mm (56 in). That results in similar interior dimensions to the larger Skoda Octavia, including one of the biggest luggage compartments in the segment. The Scala’s cargo capacity is 467 liters (16.5 cu ft) with all seats in place and 1,410 liters (50 cu ft) with the rear seats folded down. As the first Skoda model based on VW Group’s MQB A0 platform, the Scala completely repositions the brand in the compact

Volkswagen Gives Us A Glimpse Of 2020 Golf Mk8

Image
Volkswagen has published a new teaser of the eighth-generation Golf during the recent Volkswagen Brand Annual Session in Wolfsburg. As a teaser from the start of the year indicated, the Mk8 Golf will adopt a sharper and more aggressive shape than the outgoing model. Teased here in three-door guise, we can see the Golf will have thin headlights, a sharp C-pillars, a rear spoiler and a design line running along the sides from the headlights to the taillights. This sketch doesn’t just offer a glimpse of the new model’s overhauled front fascia, but confirms our suspicions about alleged spy shots of the new Golf published in October. These images set the internet abuzz, but we always suspected they were too good to be true. This sketch previews different headlights, confirming that those pictures were tampered with. The car manufacturer made the unusual move of announcing that production of the Mk8 Golf will commence in June 2019 at the start of this year. While that still remains

Aston Martin Heritage EV Concept Gives 1970’s DB6 A Modern Electric Heart

Image
Aston Martin Works has taken the wraps off the all-new heritage electrification concept which blends classic styling with modern technology. Based on a 1970 DB6 MkII Volante, the concept doesn’t look too remarkable as its hides the “world’s first reversible EV powertrain conversion” underneath its skin. Created for a world where future legislation could restrict the use of classic cars, the concept has a “cassette” electric powertrain which uses some of the same technology as the upcoming Rapide E. Aston Martin says the cassette is a “self-contained cell” that sits on the original engine and transmission mounts. The cassette also features power cords which supply electricity to the car’s electrical system and the entire energy management system can be monitored via a dedicated screen that has been discreetly mounted in the cabin. Aston Martin was coy on additional details, but said the cassette is the perfect solution for drivers seeking a future-proof upgrade that is socia

All-New 2020 Chevy Silverado HD Packs 910 lb-ft Of Torque, Due In February

Image
Chevy’s all-new 2020 Silverado HD is set to debut in February of next year, when it will instantly take up the mantle of the “most advanced Silverado HD ever”, according to the automaker. This will also be the third all-new Silverado variant to make its debut within the past 18 months, and its assembly will take place at GM’s Flint plant in Michigan. Also, compared to its 1500 sibling, the HD model is almost entirely different, as the two trucks have only their roofs in common. Still, like the Silverado 1500, the HD also gains an additional 3 inches (7.6 cm) of legroom on crew cab models, to go with a taller, more comfortable seating position. “We know the needs and priorities of heavy-duty customers are different than those of either light-duty or medium-duty customers,” stated Silverado HD chief engineer, Jaclyn McQuaid. “As such, we built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for them that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing
