Renault Teases New Crossover Coupe Ahead of Moscow Show Debut

Image
Renault has released a single teaser image, previewing its new crossover coupe model that’s going to be unveiled at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show. The French car maker didn’t reveal much about its new model, apart from saying that it is a global C-SUV model and that it will be manufactured at its Moscow plant. “The new vehicle will be a real breakthrough for the Russian SUV-market, strengthening the leadership of Renault Russia in this promising, fast-growing segment,” said Renault in its press release. “The launch of this global model will open a new chapter in the history of not only Renault Russia.” The new model will be presented in the form a near-production concept and will reportedly adopt a more dynamic SUV Coupe styling. The teaser image partially reveals the front end, which features Renault’s latest design cues, such as the C-shaped LED daytime running lights. The new crossover will be built at the same plant with the Kaptur, a longer and wider version

Electric Racing Tesla Model S P100DL Unveiled At Catalunya

Image
Revealed at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona is the EPCS V2.3 Tesla P100DL – the new race-ready version of the Model S that will form the basis of the Electric Production Car Series. The electric powertrain seems to have been altered slightly to produce 778 horsepower (585 kW) and 734 lb-ft (995 Nm) of torque. With the cockpit stripped out for competition, the organizers say it’ll run to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.1 seconds and top out at 250 km/h (155 mph). As you can see from the pictures, the bodywork seems to have been modified as well, with blistered wheel arches and a racing-spec aero kit to help keep the car glued to the track through the corners. A full grid of these cars will be deployed in a 10-race season. Rounds will be held in Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Portugal, with the last race to be held at the end of October 2019 at Vallelunga on the outskirts of Rome. The series will be supported by an electric karting championship and an e

2019 Audi A4 Facelift Gets A New Look But Not Much Else

Image
Audi has revealed the facelifted version of the 2019 A4 Sedan and Avant models, showcasing a refreshed design in line with the company’s latest products. The changes are subtle as expected, with the 2019 Audi A4 featuring new bumpers with pentagonal contours and wheel designs, both in standard and S-Line forms. The new front bumper also features separate openings in the air inlets that guide a portion of the airflow into the wheel housings. S Line-equipped models get a new front grille with slats in a 3D look, while a blade finishes off the lower part. Other design differences include a pair of wide, trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes that replace the previous round ones, an RS rear spoiler on the A4 Avant and a new Turbo Blue paint finish. The new S Line competition package adds things like Audi Sport 19-inch wheels, red brake calipers, sport suspension and LED headlights. Inside you get RS carbon inlays and black partial leather sport seats. As an option, customers can ge

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Arrives With Over 700HP

Image
Aston Martin is expected to lift the veil off the new DBS Superleggera very soon. But not before the first images and details have found their way online across a number of outlets. Set to replace the outgoing Vanquish, the new DBS Superleggera is expected to borrow much from the DB11 – much like the last DBS was based on the old DB9, only turned up to 11 (or well past it). As you can see, it has mostly fresh bodywork – rendered almost entirely in carbon fiber to help cut a good 160 pounds (72 kg) off the curb weight, now down to a reported 3,733 lbs (<1,700 kg). The grille is larger and the lines crisper, thanks to what we expect is a collaborative effort with Carrozzeria Touring – which lays a stronger claim to the Superleggera handle than Lamborghini ever did. The new DBS is far more than a rebodied DB11, though. The 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 is expected to produce some 715 horsepower (533 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque, channeled to the rear wheels via the

Audi SQ8 Caught Undisguised, Will Likely Feature 500 HP Hybrid V6

Image
This is the upcoming S version of the new Audi Q8, spotted free of camouflage during its late development stage. A recent report on the range-topping RS Q8 claimed that it will feature the same plug-in hybrid powertrain used by the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, where it makes 671 HP. That, however, would make it more powerful than the Lamborghini Urus, which, given that both companies fall under the VW Group umbrella, seems unlikely. Besides, Audi has teased the production SQ8 with the Q8 Sport Concept that was powered by a mild hybrid powertrain consisting of a 443hp 3.0-liter V6 TFSI hooked up with a 27hp electric motor, offering a total of 469hp (476PS) and 516lb-ft (700Nm) of torque – something that seems more plausible. The car will feature the brand’s 48-volt electrical architecture and a small lithium-ion battery pack mounted under the boot. The SQ8’s V6 engine is also expected to feature an electric compressor along with a traditional turbocharger, a technology

Koenigsegg Teases Agera’s Successor At Dealership Opening Down Under

Image
Koenigsegg only builds a handful of its high-value hypercars each year, and sells them through a small network of dealers around the world. So the opening of a new showroom might be news in and of itself. But what’s caught our attention here is not the opening of the dealership, but what the manufacturer showed there. At the opening of the new franchise at Lorbek Luxury Cars in Melbourne, Australia, this week, Koenigsegg showed guests this teaser sketch for its next exotic hypercar. Billed as the replacement for the Agera RS, the new model is slated to be unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next March. With the Agera RS and Regera hybrid both completely sold out, this as-yet unseen new model is the only one that Koenigsegg currently has available for order. And we don’t know much about it yet. From the bare outline, the bodywork (at least from behind) looks completely different to those of the Agera or Regera – curvier than the former, and more aggressive than the latter, e

2019 Chevrolet Blazer Resurrects Classic Nameplate

Image
An-all new generation of GM’s Chevrolet Blazer was introduced yesterday during a special event in Atlanta, some 13 years after it retired the nameplate with the S-10 Blazer back in 2005. With the bulk of buyers, even those initially hesitantly clinging on to cars, having long embraced the new order of SUVs and crossovers, General Motors is eager to fill any niche it can. The new Blazer has been re-imagined as more aggressively styled crossover designed to be bigger and roomier than Chevy’s Equinox but smaller than the three-row Traverse. GM’s design team purposely avoided making it look like the Blazers of old, giving it a modern styling with some hints of the refreshed 2019 Camaro SS on the edgy fascia to reflect its youthful appeal. Beyond the squinty HID headlights and big black grille, the 2019 Blazer has a strong profile with intricate (busy) lines and a floating roofline trick we’ve seen implemented on many models these days. Out back, despite the modern LED-ill

New 2019 Volvo S60 Is A Sleek, American Made BMW 3-Series Fighter

Image
Volvo’s third generation S60 model was unveiled at the automaker’s first U.S. manufacturing plant in Charleston, South Carolina, which was also officially inaugurated yesterday. The all-new S60 is the Volvo’s first model to be sold without a diesel unit within its engine range, in turn signaling the company’s commitment to electrification. The Swedish automaker has previously stated that come 2019, all of their new models will be electrified. “The new S60 is one of the most exciting Volvo cars we’ve ever made,” stated Volvo boss Hakan Samuelsson. “It is a true driver’s car that gives us a strong position in the US and China sedan markets, creating more growth opportunities for Volvo Cars.” Buyers will be able to choose between two turbocharged and supercharged plug-in hybrid petrol engines. Opt for the T6 Twin Engine AWD PHEV spec and you’ll end up with 340 HP, whereas the US-spec T8 version will deliver 400 HP. The automaker’s proven T5 and T6 petrol engines will be

Porsche Buys 10 Percent Of Rimac To Help With Future Electric Vehicles

Image
If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Porsche, for one, seems to be embracing that idea with its most recent investment. The German automaker has taken a ten-percent stake in Rimac – the Croatian startup known for its electric hypercars like the Concept_One and the C_Two. It just revealed the latter, nearly a decade after the former, at the Geneva Motor Show this past March, packing nearly 2,000 horsepower’s worth of electric propulsion, a 1.85-second 0-60 time, and a top speed quoted at 256 mph (412 km/h). As impressive as Porsche’s electrified sports cars already are, those figures far eclipse what even the groundbreaking 918 Spyder was capable of. So Zuffenhausen is evidently tapping into Rimac’s expertise to help develop its next generation of electric performance machines – like the forthcoming Taycan that was previewed by the Mission E concept. “By developing the purely electric two-seaters super sports cars, like the ‘Concept One’ or ‘C Two’, as well as core vehicle systems,

2019 Audi A1 Sportback Revealed

Image
Audi has officially (and now, fully) unveiled the 2019 A1 Sportback, after a string of leaks this week. Looking significantly more square and aggressive than its predecessor, the redesigned model has a wide singleframe grille and three slits beneath the hood that pay tribute to the Sport Quattro. Moving further back, we can see an upward sweeping beltline, prominent character lines and wheels which range in sizes from 15- to 18-inches. Customers will be able to order an assortment of options including LED headlights and an S Line exterior which adds larger air intakes, a larger rear spoiler and special side skirts. The model will be offered in eleven colors and buyers can order a contrasting color for the roof, mirrors, side skirts and front spoiler. Overall, the car measures 4.03 meters (13.2 ft) long, 1.74 meters (5.7 ft) wide and 1.41 meters (4.6 ft) tall.   The new styling continues in the cabin as drivers will find a higher quality interior with a modern des
