Honor 30S goes official with Kirin 820 5G SoC, four cameras

Image
A week after its parent company Huawei unveiled its latest P-series flagships, Honor took the wraps off the Honor 30S. While the lowest standing member of the 30 family, the Honor 30S packs some impressive specs, premium glass and aluminum design and dual-mode 5G thanks to the new Kirin 820 5G chipset. The Honor 30S boast a 6.5-inch FHD+ IPS display with a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner for the 16MP selfie camera. The right-hand-side houses the capacitive fingerprint scanner. Around the back sits a four-camera array housed in a square setup. There's a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP telephoto module with 3x optical and up to 20x hybrid zoom, an 8MP ultrawide snapper and a 2MP depth helper. Under the hood, we find the Kirin 820 5G chipset which packs an eight-core architecture with four ARM-Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.84GHz alongside four ARM-A76 cores with varying clock speeds. The GPU department is covered by the six-core Mali-G57 and there’s also the Kirin ISP 5.

The Huawei P40 Pro+ ups the ante with two telephoto cameras and 40W wireless charging

Image
The Huawei P40 Pro+ is the Pro model dialed up to 11. The biggest improvement is to the zoom cameras (yes, plural), but Huawei also hit a new benchmark in wireless charging. The plus model uses a periscope lens with a focal length of 240mm, almost twice as long as the one on the P40 Pro (125mm). It's backed by an 8MP image sensor and feature OIS. That's the longest lens on mobile yet, but Huawei had to craft a unique design to achieve it. The Pro+ has an additional telephoto camera - 80mm lens - to bridge the gap between the extreme telephoto and the regular camera. This gives you more flexibility and allows you to capture high-quality photos at various distances. The P40 Pro+ is the first phone to achieve 40W wireless charging. We've seen prototypes from competitors, but Huawei is the first to make it official. Wired charging for the 4,200mAh battery is 40W. Reverse wireless charging is supported, of course. The phone uses the same Kirin 990 5G chipset wit

Huawei P40 unveiled with 50MP camera, P40 Pro adds 90Hz panel, 5x tele cam

It's that time of the year again - Huawei and its partner Leica are starting a new chapter in smartphone photography. The smartphone manufacturer also did much to improve the hardware on the front of its P40 flagships and it hit a new milestone in wireless charging speeds. Huawei P40 Pro The Huawei P40 Pro takes inspiration from both the P30 and Mate 30, but surpasses them both in terms of features. Huawei's usual drive to perfect the camera is as strong as ever, but this year the company did much to improve the screen as well. It calls it an "Overflow Display" with four curved edges, all sides sweeping down to the frame of the phone. Another notable change is move away from the wide notch and towards a smaller (if not really "small") pill-shaped punch hole. It houses the 32MP front camera (capable of 4K @ 60fps video capture), which finally has autofocus - we think that's vital for good quality selfies. The 6.58" OLED panel supports 9

Redmi K30 Pro arrives with Snapdragon 865, K30 Pro Zoom adds telephoto camera

Image
The Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom are here, after weeks of teasers and speculations. They bring a radically different design compared to the K30 and K30 5G with a pop-up selfie camera and quad rear shooters housed in a circular setup. As expected they also come with the flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset, complete with X55 modem for 5G connectivity and larger 4,700 mAh batteries. In fact, the two K30 Pro versions are identical save for one of the cameras on the back. The 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display comes without any cutouts as it brings back the motorized pop-up solution for the 20MP selfie cam. The panel comes with a built-in fingerprint scanner and a 20:9 aspect ratio but its refresh rate is stuck at 60Hz. Around the back, the Redmi K30 Pro features a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13MP ultrawide snapper, a 5MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth helper. Those who want a telephoto module will have to step up to the K30 Pro Zoom version wh

2021 Hyundai Elantra Debuts With Four-Door Coupe Body, New +50MPG Hybrid Variant

Image
The Hyundai Elantra was given a controversial facelift for 2019, but the company is trying to erase the sins of the past by introducing an all-new model in California. Billed as an everyday four-door coupe, the 2021 Elantra (also called in i30 Sedan in some markets such as Australia) adopts the Korean brand’s so-called “Sensuous Sportiness” design language. Beyond the marketing fluff, it results in a more characterful styling than its predecessor, albeit convoluted and far from pretty as it’s as if it’s trying too hard to stand out from the crowd. As expected, the model follows in the footsteps of the Sonata and adopts a wide-face “parametric-jewel-pattern” grille. The turn signals are integrated into the grille and they reside next to angular headlights. The edgy front end gives way to a long flowing hood and sleeker bodywork.  The latter features a prominent character line which is echoed by an upward sweeping beltline. The roof and greenhouse are notably more dynamic, an

Apex AP-0 Concept Is A Lightweight Electric Sports Car With 650 HP

Image
Apex has officially unveiled the new AP-0 concept, following a slight delay related to the coronavirus. Designed to preview a production model that will be launched in late 2022, the AP-0 is an electric sports car that is “race-inspired and road legal.” Packed with personality, the AP-0 has a striking design that looks fast even when standing still. Since the car is electric, it eschews a traditional grille and instead features narrow slots which channel air through the vehicle and out the hood. Elsewhere, we can see a front splitter and three-piece LED headlights. The car has also been equipped with digital side mirrors and a teardrop-shaped glass roof with an aerodynamic rear fin that draws inspiration from Formula 1. There are also butterfly doors as well as 19- and 20-inch carbon fiber wheels. The sporty styling continues at the rear as the concept has an enormous diffuser. However, the most unique styling feature is the taillights which are bound to draw attention

2021 Chevrolet Traverse Facelift Ushers In New Looks, More Kit

Image
The Traverse is Chevrolet’s best-looking crossover and it’s getting an updated design for 2021. Looking instantly recognizable, the model has a new front fascia with a revised grille that is flanked by newly standard LED headlights. The latter are slimmer than before and now feature turn signals which are integrated into daytime running lights. Below, there’s a beefier looking bumper with a prominent plastic insert. The model also has new LED fog light surrounds and updated chrome trim. The changes continue out back as the Traverse has been equipped with restyled taillights. They’re connected by a chrome bar which features a new contrasting black or copper accent. Elsewhere, there are four new wheel designs. Moving into the cabin, there are new seating options and an upgraded infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Additional changes are limited, but the available Dual SkyScape roof now has a power sunshade for the rear pan

VW T-Roc Cabriolet: High-Riding Golf Convertible Successor Revealed

Image
Volkswagen wants to draw attention to its newest convertible, the T-Roc Cabriolet, which will have its official market launch in Germany and other European markets from March 20. The automaker does that by releasing the mother lode of all photo galleries (325 of them to be exact), as well as detailed videos featuring the T-Roc Cabriolet’s two trim levels. Compared to the regular T-Roc, the convertible version ditches the rear doors and the fixed roof, adopting a fully automated soft top instead. VW is proud of the fact the top opens in just nine seconds, even when traveling at speeds of up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph). Unsurprisingly, the T-Roc Cabriolet is less practical than its fixed-roof sibling, offering a boot capacity of 280 liters (9.9 cu ft), regardless of whether the soft top is open or closed. Still, it comes with folding rear seat backrests and optional towing bracket. The drop-top compact SUV will be offered in Style and R-Line grades, with the former adopting a

2021 Genesis G80: First Official Look At New Model

Image
Set to be introduced later this month, the 2021 G80 adopts an “Athletic Elegance” design that looks simply phenomenal. Like the GV80, the model features a large crest grille which is flanked by Genesis’ trademark “quadlamps.”  Of course, the real highlights are further back as the G80 has a long flowing hood, muscular bodywork and 20-inch alloy wheels. In particular, the car has a long sweeping “parabolic line” that starts at the front fender and continues gracefully to the rear.  Genesis says this stylish accent is meant to evoke the “elegance of classic cars of the past.” The dynamic styling is visible elsewhere as designers gave the car a coupe-like roofline.  The design is far sportier than the current model and it recalls the Audi A7 Sportback. The rear end is also gorgeous as Genesis gave the G80 a trunk with a “horseshoe shaped negative surface.”  It’s joined by chrome trim and a trunk release button which mimics the shape of the Genesis logo.  Elsewhere, there
