VW Group Reveals Sedric Concept, A Self-Driving Pod Meant To Replace Your Car


VW Group revealed the Sedric concept, a Level 5 self-driving vehicle developed from a blank sheet of paper at the eve of the Geneva Motor Show.

Sedric (SElf-DRIving-Car) represents the vision of VW Group for future shared mobility, one where a human driver is no longer required.

The concept is the first one to be launched under the VW Group umbrella -and not a specific brand of the group- and will spawn a number of concepts from the Group’s brands in the near future.

The highlight of the electric Sedric is the so-called Button; press it and Sedric will come to you in order to drive you to your desired destination, with a ring indicating the vehicle’s arrival time, as well as colored and vibration signals guiding a person with impaired vision to the car.

In addition, the windscreen is a big OLED screen featuring augmented reality to serve as a communication and entertainment center, with passengers able to talk to Sedric about their destination, how to get there, the driving time, the current traffic situation and more.

The 2+2 layout of the cabin makes the Sedric feel more like a lounge and less like a car, with the two rear seats acting as a comfy couch and air-purifying plants placed in front of the rear windscreen.

Mercedes finally pulled the wraps off the  AMG GT’s Roadster version  which will come in two flavors: the basic 469hp model and the range-topping 547hp GT C model. Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet Is A Crossover For Droptop Lovers

Droptop crossovers have always been rather odd and the T-Roc Cabriolet is no different. It will be the only convertible Volkswagen on sale for the foreseeable future and will celebrate its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Rather than simply removing the roof of the standard T-Roc, Volkswagen has drastically altered the vehicle’s structure and body. In fact, its wheelbase is 37 mm longer than the standard T-Roc while its overall length is up by 34 mm. In addition, the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet features structural strengthening in the underbody, side panels, cross members, doors, and windscreen frame to make up for the lack of a roof. The folding fabric roof developed by Volkswagen retracts in just nine seconds at speeds of up to 19 mph (30.5 km/h) and is similar in operation to the roof of the outgoing Golf Cabriolet. Ford's new GT Competition Series was built with weight-saving in mind, but also with an improved center of gravity for better road-holding. Among its features, you'll notice the lightweight carbon fiber racing stripes, A-Pillars and side mirrors, as well as the unique race-inspired Perspex acrylic engine hatch with integrated venting.
