Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD Spyder Arrives With Lightweight Soft-Top And $229,428 Tag


Lamborghini’s brand new Huracan EVO RWD Spyder was just unveiled using Augmented Reality on the carmaker’s official web page, featuring a lightweight soft-top and a 602 HP (610 PS) naturally-aspirated V10 engine.

The new model will cost $229,428 in the US, €175,838 in Europe, £151,100 in the UK, RMB 2,794,000 in China and YEN 26,539,635 in Japan. All prices are without taxes, except for China.


As for first customer deliveries, they’re scheduled for summer 2020.

Power comes from a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 unit, producing 610 PS (602 HP) and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque. With everything going to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, this new Huracan variant is able to rocket from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, before maxing out at 201 mph (324 km/h). It also needs just 9.6 seconds in order to get to 124 mph (200 km/h).


“The Huracan EVO Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder doubles the driving fun, delivering raw driving pleasure with the opportunity to celebrate life outside,” said the brand’s CEO Stefano Domenicali.

“The driver is perfectly in touch with Lamborghini’s engineering heritage, experiencing the feedback and engagement from the set-up of a rear-wheel drive car where electronic intrusion is minimized, while enjoying the sense of freedom and spirit of life that only open-top driving provides.”


In order to boost driver enjoyment, Lamborghini gave the Huracan EVO RWD Spyder a specially-tuned P-TCS traction control system, designed to consistently deliver torque and traction “even as the Spyder is realigning after sharp cornering or drifting.”

This car weighs just 1,509 kg (3,326 lbs) dry, and has a weight/power ratio of 2.47 kg/HP (5.45 lbs/HP), plus a 40% (front) – 60% (rear) weight distribution.


From the driver’s seat, you can use the ANIMA button on the steering wheel in order to control the available modes. STRADA is focused on stability in all conditions by minimizing rear-wheel slippage, while SPORT mode will allow the rear wheels to slide during accelerating, as torque is limited only when oversteer angles increase rapidly. As for CORSA mode, it’s all about maximizing dynamics and speed.

Lamborghini designed the Huracan EVO RWD Spyder to fit the typical Huracan customer’s everyday lifestyle. Compared to its AWD sibling, the new RWD variant boasts a new front splitter and vertical fins, high gloss black rear bumper and a new diffuser.


Its soft-top roof takes just 17 seconds to stow away, even while driving up to a speed of 50 km/h (31 mph). You can still electronically open the rear window regardless of where the soft-top is – the latter functions as a windshield when up, and highlights the V10 engine’s soundtrack when down. Furthermore, there are two removable lateral wind shields in the cabin in order to dampen aerodynamic noise, permitting conversations even at high speeds.

Also available is an HMI 8.4-inch touchscreen display embedded within the center console. Aside from controlling the car’s functions, it also provides comprehensive connectivity for telephone calls, internet access and Apple CarPlay.
