Koenigsegg SUV not happening


Koenigsegg has ruled out the possibility of launching a sport utility vehicle.
We have bad news for fans of high-performance SUVs – Koenigsegg won’t build one and the information was recently confirmed by the company’s boss and founder Christian von Koenigsegg. Speaking to Top Gear at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, he commented the vehicles from this segment are “fundamentally flawed.”
He noted that the automaker is able to retune its supercar chassis into one suitable for a SUV model, so technically he sees no problem in building such a model. “To make our carbon chassis into an SUV, you’d have to stretch that chassis. You’d keep the front and rear ends as they are, go more extreme on the thickness of the honeycomb, you’d put a carbon cage structure up top… technically I don’t see a big issue with it.”
But Koenigsegg is not a fan of SUVs and the Swedish manufacturer is not planning to launch one. “It’d be a pretty wild SUV because you’d have a big tunnel in the center, huge sills, bucket seats. I think it could be a thing the market could accept. But I’m just not a fan of SUVs. To me they are fundamentally flawed. Sure we could sell them, but I don’t want to,” he commented.

Droptop crossovers have always been rather odd and the T-Roc Cabriolet is no different. It will be the only convertible Volkswagen on sale for the foreseeable future and will celebrate its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
