Jaguar XFL Aimed Straight At Mercedes-Benz E-Class L


Jaguar stretched the wheelbase of the XF and has just launched it at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show.

With the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class L in its sights, the long wheelbase version of the XF is aimed to those who cannot afford or simply don't want the XJ, but would appreciate an extra 157 mm (6.1 inches) of legroom and 116 mm (4.5 inches) of knee room for rear passengers, thanks to the 140 mm (5.5 inches) increased wheelbase. 

Compared to the standard XF, the XFL remains identical, except for the stretched rear doors and obvious increased length. Inside, the British have introduced 8-inch screens in the back of the front seat headrests with digital wireless headphones, and the car also benefits from the latest 10.2-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment, Meridian Surround Sound System, four-zone climate control with a cabin air ionization, two HDMI ports, two USB 3.0 ports and a 12V power socket. Folding rear tables, heated and cooled rear seats with massage function and electric side window blinds are also part of the package.

Those changes have added around 200 kg (440 lbs) to the total weight. Buyers can choose between a 2.0-liter turbo four-pot with 200 PS (197 HP) or 240 PS (236 HP) and a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 producing 340 PS (335 HP). Power is sent to the all-wheel drive system through a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. 

This is the first Jaguar to be produced at JLR's Changshu plant that's a joint venture with Chery . Sales will commence in the second half of 2016.

Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet Is A Crossover For Droptop Lovers

Droptop crossovers have always been rather odd and the T-Roc Cabriolet is no different. It will be the only convertible Volkswagen on sale for the foreseeable future and will celebrate its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Rather than simply removing the roof of the standard T-Roc, Volkswagen has drastically altered the vehicle’s structure and body. Ford's new GT Competition Series was built with weight-saving in mind, but also with an improved center of gravity for better road-holding.
