Resurrected Citroen C6 Makes Public Debut In China


With the Chinese market in mind, Citroen has brought the C6 nameplate back from the dead for a new car that debuted at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. 

The French brand wasn't alone on the project, as it was given a hand from its local partner, Dongfeng. In fact, the new C6 is basically a rebadged version of the Dongfeng Fengshen A9 with a slightly updated exterior and a more premium cabin. 

Riding on the PSA's EMP2 platform, just like its smaller sibling, the Peugeot 308 Sedan, the Citroen C6 is more than 5 meters (197 in) long and has a 2.9 (114 in) meters wheelbase. Inside, it has a 12.3-inch LCD full-color digital instrument cluster, a large touchscreen display, leather and Nappa upholstery, wood trim, panoramic sunroof, four-zone automatic air conditioning and new driver assistance systems.

Citroen has yet to reveal full specs of the new flagship model, but it's expected to use a 1.8-liter turbo petrol engine rated at just over 200 HP and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque, sent to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet Is A Crossover For Droptop Lovers

Droptop crossovers have always been rather odd and the T-Roc Cabriolet is no different. It will be the only convertible Volkswagen on sale for the foreseeable future and will celebrate its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Rather than simply removing the roof of the standard T-Roc, Volkswagen has drastically altered the vehicle’s structure and body. In fact, its wheelbase is 37 mm longer than the standard T-Roc while its overall length is up by 34 mm. In addition, the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet features structural strengthening in the underbody, side panels, cross members, doors, and windscreen frame to make up for the lack of a roof. The folding fabric roof developed by Volkswagen retracts in just nine seconds at speeds of up to 19 mph (30.5 km/h) and is similar in operation to the roof of the outgoing Golf Cabriolet. Ford's new GT Competition Series was built with weight-saving in mind, but also with an improved center of gravity for better road-holding.
