2017 Camaro ZL1 power figures revised, more power than ever before


When Chevy introduced the all-new 2017 Camaro ZL1 earlier this year, it rated the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 at an estimated 640 horsepower (477 kilowatts) and 640 pound-feet (867 newton-meters) of torque. Now, the final numbers are in thanks to a leaked order guide for the 2017 Camaro showing the engine inside the range-topping ZL1 is going to deliver 650 hp (485 kW) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm). The power figures for the Camaro ZL1 match those of the Corvette Z06 which as you may have heard has some heat issues that Chevy has made the pledge to fix for the 2017 model year. That means people shouldn’t worry too much about the ZL1 since we imagine it will get the engine cooling improvements from day one.
The 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 is slated to go on sale later this year and you will be able to get it as a convertible as well. Buyers will get to pick from a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional new 10-speed automatic transmission.
Although official details from Chevy about pricing are not available at this point, the coupe is expected to kick off at less than $60,000, while its open-top sibling will be a bit more expensive.
