Mercedes-AMG GT R On Track For Goodwood Reveal

The hardcore version of the Mercedes-AMG GT family, the GT R, will make an appearance next month, at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed between June 23 and 26.

While Mercedes hasn't announced anything yet,Autoexpress says that tire manufacturer Michelin included the GT R in a list of vehicles that will appear in the supercar paddock it sponsors.

Not much is currently known about the Mercedes-AMG GT R, except that it will gain uprated brakes, stiffer springs and revised steering, to cope with the extra punch delivered by the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, expected to produce 570 PS (562 HP), according to the latest reports. However, previous data indicated that the total output could stand as much as 600 PS (592 HP). No matter what the final number will turn out to be, one thing is certain; the hardcore model will be more powerful than the AMG GT S' 510 PS (503 HP).

Responsible for sending power to the wheels will be an updated seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which will also help improve upon the GT S' 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 3.7 seconds.
