2019 Ultima RS Has Up To 1,200 HP And Is Coming To Goodwood


Ultima has long been building some of the most remarkable kit cars ever, and has just unveiled its latest model. Dubbed the RS, it is set to be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and, like Ultima models, will be sold in a number of configurations.

The small car manufacturer has engineered the RS’ chassis to fit all current LT V8 engines from Chevrolet, starting with the 480 HP LT1. Should customers want even greater performance, they can opt for the 650 HP LT4 from the Z06, or the supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 used in the current ZR1 modified to deliver 800 HP. For the ultimate in performance, Ultima (natch) even offers a 1,200 HP upgrade pack for the LT5. You know, so that you can make LaFerraris eat your dust once the lights turn green…


The RS tips the scales at a featherweight 930 kg (2050 lbs), depending on the powertrain and options selected. Hence, Ultima says the entry-level LT1-powered version can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.0 seconds, 100 mph (160 km/h) in just 6.2 and max out at over 180 mph (289 km/h).

In LT4 configuration, 0-60 mph takes 2.5 seconds, 0-100 mph 5.2 seconds, and top speed stands at 210 mph (337 km/h). The standard LT5 does 60 mph in 2.3 seconds, 100 mph in 4.8 seconds and exceeds 250 mph (402 km/h). No performance figures have been announced for the tuned, 1,200 HP LT5, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure it will be significantly faster, taking it to Chiron/Koenigsegg country. All models come equipped with a Porsche-sourced six-speed manual transmission.


Braking is provided by AP Racing 322 mm discs and four-pot calipers at all four corners as standard, while larger, 362 mm discs with six-piston calipers are an option. Other important aspects of the Ultima RS include forged 19-inch lightweight wheels and carbon fiber bodywork.

Owners can build the vehicle themselves or have it built for them at the factory, and can also choose between left- and right-hand drive configurations.

Droptop crossovers have always been rather odd and the T-Roc Cabriolet is no different.
