2020 Ford Puma Is Here And Is Loaded With Features


Details and images of the 2020 Ford Puma have emerged online thanks to the company’s British website, seemingly a little earlier than Ford had planned on revealing the new crossover.

The first thing which will likely strike you about the new Puma is its size. It is small. Very, very small. Ford has yet to release measurements for the Puma but it appears to only be slightly larger than the popular Fiesta hatchback. As this is a crossover, however, its design is quite different to that of a Fiesta and it supports a higher and more-upright driving position.


Preliminary photos of the Puma show the vehicle in ST-Line X grade where LED headlights and taillights are featured. The front also supports a large black grille and if there was ever a vehicle with a front fascia which looks like the smiley face emoji, this would be it.

The Puma is available with two small hybrid engines both pairing a small 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine with an electric motor. Power for the base model sits at 123 hp while the range-topping models has a meatier 152 hp. Both engines come standard with a six-speed manual transmission and while Ford has yet to say so, we do expect an automatic ‘box to be made available to customers. Fuel efficiency figures have yet to be announced.


While the 2020 Ford Puma may only support small engines, it does come outfitted with a multitude of important safety features. For example, there is Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Emergency Brake Assist, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Stability Control, semi-autonomous parking assist, and emergency steering assist. There is also adaptive cruise control.

Inside, one aspect of the Puma immediately stands out; a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster which comes standard. This gauge cluster can be customized to suit the preferences of the driver and is joined by a central infotainment system with Ford SYNC 3 offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. A premium 10-speaker B&O audio system is also available for the crossover. Other neat features of the Puma include a hands-free tailgate, adaptive rear parcel shelf, and a hidden storage cubby where you would ordinarily find a spare wheel.


The new Puma will likely be showcased at September’s Frankfurt Auto Show.

Droptop crossovers have always been rather odd and the T-Roc Cabriolet is no different. It will be the only convertible Volkswagen on sale for the foreseeable future and will celebrate its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
