2021 Ram 1500 TRX Arrives With 702 HP

Image
Nearly four years after Ram unveiled the Rebel TRX concept, the company has introduced the production model. Billed as the fastest and most powerful mass production pickup, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired to an upgraded eight-speed automatic transmission and an off-road focused four-wheel drive system.  This setup enables the truck to post some remarkable performance figures as the TRX hits 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and can run the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph (174 km/h).  Given enough room, the model will eventually hit a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h). Of course, the engine is just part of the story as the Ram 1500 TRX is an off-road beast that features a host of other upgrades.  That’s clear from the outside as the model has 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires which were specially d...

New Cadillac Lyriq Is A Preview Of Brand’s First Electric SUV Coming In 2022

Image
Cadillac has finally revealed the new Lyriq, a show car created to preview the brand’s first fully electric luxury crossover that’s scheduled to go on sale in 2022. Carscoops asked Cadillac just how close the study is to the production model with a spokesperson telling us that, while “there will be changes to the production version, it’s about 80-85% production intent”. We were also informed that it’s closer in size to the Cadillac XT5 (189.5 in. or 4,813 mm long) than to the XT6 (198.8 in. or 5,050 mm). The Cadillac Lyric is based on GM’s next-generation modular EV platform and is powered by the brand’s upcoming ‘Ultium’ electric powertrain family which will offer more than 300 miles of driving range in its top 100kWh battery spec. The carmaker also adds that the new Lyric is compatible with up to 150 kW DC fast-charging and Level 2 charging rates of up to 19 kW. Customers will be offered both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. “Led by Lyriq, Cadillac will redefine Americ...

Delage Is Back With An F1-Inspired Supercar That Packs Up To 1,100 HP

Image
Delage isn’t exactly a household name as the company ceased production nearly 70 years ago. However, it’s been revived in the form of the “world’s fastest street-legal hybrid supercar.” Called the D12, the model features an “ultramodern design” that draws inspiration from fighter jets and Formula 1. That’s clearly visible up front as the D12 has an F1-inspired nose with a carbon fiber splitter. The front wheels are also separated from the main body and there’s a transparent cover that provides a glimpse at the contractive suspension. Further back, there’s a one-piece greenhouse which opens like a jet canopy. We can also see a roof-mounted scoop, huge side vents and a wide rear wing. Other highlights include carbon fiber wheels, a massive diffuser and LED lighting units. The D12 is a two-seater where the driver and passenger sit in tandem. The company says the model will have carbon fiber seats and a unique steering wheel with “fighter jet-style joysticks.” We can also see an assortment...

2021 Maserati Ghibli And Quattroporte Trofeo Debut With 580 HP Ferrari-Made V8

Image
Maserati has expanded its model lineup by introducing the Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo. Sitting at the top of the company’s sedan range and following in the footsteps of the Levante Trofeo that was launched in 2018, they pack a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8, which is built at Ferrari’s plant in Maranello to Maserati’s specifications. The V8 develops 580 HP (588 PS / 433 kW) at 6,250 rpm and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque between 2,250 and 5,250 rpm, and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission made by ZF and rear-wheel drive with self-locking differential. The nought to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration takes 4.3 seconds in the Ghibli Trofeo and 4.5 seconds in the Quattroporte Trofeo, and top speed is identical in both models at 203 mph (326 km/h). The Trofeo versions of the Ghibli and Quattroporte feature double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, tied to the Skyhook adaptive dampers and anti-roll bars. Launch control is on deck and sharpening the response and mak...

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 introduced: larger displays inside and out

Image
Samsung didn’t fully unveil the Galaxy Z Fold2 but it did lift the cover a little bit so we can have a peek. Really, it focused on the two displays and even then it held back some details. The internal screen has grown to 7.6”, up from 7.3” on the original. Also, the display now incorporates Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) for improved image quality. The external screen is much larger too – at 6.2” it covers the entire “front” when the Fold2 is folded. The aspect ratio is taller than most phones out there, but you can successfully use the Fold2 closed. Also, the “front”-facing camera and the internal cameras have both moved to punch holes. There’s no mention of price just yet – even details like chipset, cameras, battery and so on are left for a later announcement scheduled for September 1. This is also the start date for the pre-orders. XDA has additional info on the device, info that Samsung didn’t confirm in the livestream or in the press release. Still, here it goes. The inner screen will h...

Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra unveiled with upgraded screens, S Pen and cameras

Image
For fans of the stylus there is no substitute – Samsung's Note line-up offers a freehand note-taking, doodling and annotating experience second to none. The 2020 generation brings improvements on all fronts, from software to hardware, to make the S Pen even better. The rest of the phones got major upgrades too, of course, but they come at a cost. As the name implies, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra is built on the S20 Ultra platform. It has the same screen, a 6.9” Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with 1440p+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. You still need to set the rendering resolution to 1080p+ to get the 120 Hz mode, however. The S Pen and the supporting Wacom layer on the screen have been updated to achieve 9 ms latency. Samsung says that at this point the experience is very much like writing on paper. Notes you take can be converted to Microsoft Office formats and synced with your other devices via Samsung Notes. Another change is that this is the first mobile display to be protected by Gori...

$3.1M Gordon Murray T.50 Is A 21st Century McLaren F1 That Weighs Less Than An MX-5

Image
Gordon Murray is best-known for creating the McLaren F1 and now he’s following up with a spiritual successor of sorts known as the T.50. Designed to be the purest, lightest and most driver-centric supercar ever created, the T.50 improves on the McLaren F1 “in every conceivable way.” Of course, that’s a bit subjective as T.50 looks like a McLaren and a Porsche 918 Spyder. That being said, the car does take the idea of the F1 into the modern era. Starting up front, there’s a wedge-shaped nose which features a pair of F1-inspired LED headlights. The model also has a rakish windscreen, dihedral doors and engine covers that open upwards. The design of the doors is echoed on the glass roof, but the most notable characteristic is the roof-mounted scoop which feeds air to the naturally-aspirated V12 engine. Elsewhere, we can see streamlined carbon fiber bodywork, a ventilated rear fascia and a large diffuser. The model also has 3D taillights and 19- / 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Mic...
