Image
The all-new Ford Focus is lighter, sleeker and more advanced than its predecessor, offering excellent safety and connectivity features, as well as a new range of petrol and diesel engines. Pricing has already been announced for the UK, where the all-new Focus range (5-door and estate body styles) will start at £17,930, some £2,000 less than the outgoing model. European deliveries are set for September as orders can already be placed. Sales in the U.S. will start in the second half of 2019, with details on available body-styles and powertrains to be announced closer to the launch date, though don’t expect to see the wagon come over there. Ford is calling the 2019 Focus their most “accomplished and technically-competent Focus ever”, with the car boasting a new human-centric design philosophy meant to unite exterior styling with class-leading aerodynamics and a more spacious and well-built interior. “We wanted our all-new Focus to be a product customers fall in love...

Image
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is set to unveil a new five-year plan later this year and outspoken CEO Sergio Marchionne has provided a few hints at what we can expect. Speaking with Motor Trend, Marchionne confirmed the company still has plans to introduce a crossover that is based on the same platform that underpins the Chrysler Pacifica minivan. The executive said the design work has already been completed and everything is ready to go so "We can probably get it up and running in 18 months.” Little is known about the model but the company's original plan called for the full-size crossover to be launched in 2017. It would have be sold as a Chrysler and offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. When asked about the long-awaited Wrangler pickup, Marchionne said “The product is done" but they are focused on building the regular model so the Scrambler successor will arrive in early 2019. One of the major unveiling at the North American International Auto Show was the ...

BMW X2 Concept Teased Ahead Of Official Paris Debut

Image
BMW wants to complement its SUV lineup with a sixth model, and the concept previewing the new sports crossover will be unveiled at the  Paris Auto Show  on Thursday. We’re talking about the one  announcing the X2  – a model that’s been caught testing as early as last year – which BMW teased through an image vaguely showing the vehicle’s front fascia. Through the wraps, the X2 Concept appears to sport slimmer headlights, making it more distinguishable from the X1. As with other BMW studies of the sort, it's believed to be very close to the production model that will follow next year. The X2 will be a more dynamic, sportier version of the X1, so expect it to sport a lowered roofline, and a raked windscreen, with spy shots confirming that it won’t have the same slanted roof as the X4 that offers a fastback styling.  The production car will be based  on the same UKL platform  as the new MINIs and BMW's own X1, which translates into a front-wheel drive...

Volvo has just shown two new concepts it says are big hints of what its  new 40 series  small cars will look like when they start to appear in 2017. The four-door sedan (40.2) and taller crossover (40.1) – likely to be labeled S40 and XC40, respectively – shown Wednesday in Sweden are the strongest hints at the new compact sedan and  compact crossover  the brand sorely needs to do battle with the biggest premium rivals in all of the crucial global markets. They're also the first new vehicle collaboration between the Swedes and Chinese parent company Geely, for its upcoming brand of cars also with global aspirations. Production versions of these cars will replace the current V40 sold in markets outside North America, though it's expected a new  V40 hatchback /wagon will make it to the U.S. and Canada by the end of the decade. Volvo says the upcoming 40s will be offered with a new T5 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain, using technology from the S90, V90 and ...

Renault will expand its  model range  in Europe this year with the introduction of four new products.  Revealed at the brand's 2016 shareholder's meeting, they include a C-segment sedan, which will replace the current  Fluence  and will probably be dubbed the Megane Sedan (name unconfirmed). It will ride on the same CMF platform as the  hatch  and borrow its styling cues and engine lineup.  The French will enter the pickup truck segment on the Old Continent with the 1T, which is also part of the brand's expansion. Since the  Duster Oroch  is unlikely to arrive in Europe with Renault logos, chances are we are looking at the production version of the  Alaskan Concept , which will be underpinned by the same platform as the Nissan Navara.  Renault will also unveil a B-segment crossover for the European market in 2016, which could turn out to be a facelifted version of the 3-year old  Captur . Finally, a seven-seat variant ...
