With the facelifted models introduced in New York last week, the current Mercedes-AMG C63 range still has a few good years left in it. But when times comes for its replacement, AMG boss Tobias Moers told CarAdvice in an interview that it will ditch the twin-turbo V8 engine and go for a hybrid powertrain. “If you apply proper intelligent hybridization or electrification to a car which is capable of having an always-on strategy regarding the battery and the whole system, then it’s amazing what you can get out of them”, said Moers. “Which means for sure the next-generation Mercedes-AMG C63 will be a hybrid – that’s now a given.” The next C63 is still in its early stages of development, but enthusiasts should expect a force-fed six-cylinder engine, with a small electric motor attached to it. Mercedes-AMG has detailed the facelifted C63 lineup ahead of the New York Auto Show that kicks off on Wednesday. Looking instantly recognizable, the models have been equipped with a new Panamericana grille and revised air vents which are designed to emphasize the width of the vehicle. Designers also tweaked the wheel arches to improve aerodynamic efficiency and installed a new rear diffuser. Other updates include a new rear apron, a revised exhaust and aerodynamically optimized 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels. The revised styling continues in the cabin as drivers will find a new leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with Touch Control buttons that respond to horizontal and vertical swiping movements like a smartphone. Mercedes has been supplying F1 with official safety cars for over 20 years now, with all of them being eminently fast and powerful. This one however is the most powerful yet. It’s a new Mercedes-AMG GT R that’s been outfitted to set the pace this year, replacing the GT S that has filled the position until now. The top version of Affalterbach’s dedicated sports car packs the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as so many other AMG-tuned models. But in the GT R, it’s tuned to deliver 577 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to send the Porsche 911 rival rocketing to 60 in 3.5 seconds. Mercedes-Benz has announced the recall of nearly half a million vehicles across the United States due to a problem with their airbags. According to the recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the driver's airbag could unexpectedly deploy under certain conditions – but only if two problems arise at the same time, and apparently owing nothing to the massive Takata recall we'd associate with this kind of problem. If the air bag clockspring is broken, and an electrostatic discharge occurs, then the airbag in the steering wheel could deploy accidentally. That doesn't strike us as a scenario likely to happen very often. But since the deployment of the airbag could be disruptive, to say the least, it's probably a good thing that Mercedes is calling in any vehicles that could be affected. Mercedes-AMG have launched their new C63 Cabrio and C63 S Cabrio models at this year's  NY Auto Show , with power outputs of 469 HP and 503 HP respectively. Setting both models apart from the standard C-Class Cabriolet are the flared wheel arches, the wide track and the large wheels which add to the convertible model's powerful look, though it's overall performance that impresses the most when it comes to AMG-badged cars. Agility-wise, the C63 Cabrio makes use of the sophisticated AMG Ride Control sport suspension with adaptive damping adjustment, a rear-axle limited-slip differential and  in the case of the C63 S version , dynamic engine mounts. By fall 2016, Mercedes US customers will be able to enjoy the largest selection ever of Mercedes-AMG C-Class vehicles, now available in Sedan, Coupe and Cabriolet forms. After Mercedes revealed its  first ever C-Class Cabriolet in Geneva , it will now expand the range with the world premiere of the high-performance C63 AMG model in New York.  The new Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet will benefit the same upgrades as its close-top sibling and will be offered in two versions, the C63 and C63 S. Both models will take power from the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, used on the C63 AMG family and AMG GT, delivering 469 horses in the C63 and 503hp in the C63 S.  Power will be sent to the asphalt through  AMG's 7-speed MCT transmission  and while the Coupe needs just 3.9 seconds and 3.8 seconds, respectively for the base and 'S' model,  the added weight of the Cabriolet will make it a little bit slower, while top speed should be capped at the same 155 mph (250 km/h).  Mercedes-AMG will offer the  new C63 Convertible  for sale this summer, along with the rest of the C-Class drop-top range.  Besides the high-performance C-C...
