Porsche has officially confirmed that the Mission E Cross Turismo will spawn a production version, alongside the Taycan at the Zuffenhausen facility. It’s unknown when series production will kick off, as Porsche is keeping all other aspects close to its chest for now, but it has been speculated that the production Mission E Cross Turismo might arrive on the market in 2021. By then, Porsche would have hired an additional 300 people at the plant, who will be responsible for putting it together. Essentially a derivative of the upcoming 2019 Porsche Taycan, the Mission E Cross Turismo was previewed by a concept car at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The study has a rather futuristic look and a more practical interior, capable of hauling different equipment easily. Porsche’s 70th anniversary celebration continues as the company has used the event to announce the production version of the Mission E concept will be called the Taycan. Meaning “lively young horse,” in a reference to the animal on the company’s crest, the Taycan will become Porsche’s first electric sports car when it enters production next year. Besides confirming the name, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume revealed the Taycan will be powered by two electric motors that produce a combined output of more than 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS). This will enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in less than 12 seconds. Despite the impressive performance, the Taycan will have a range in excess of 500 km (310 miles) in the New European Driving Cycle. When the battery is depleted, it can be rapidly recharged in just a matter of minutes. Porsche says a four minute charge will be good enough to deliver approximately 100 km (62 miles) of range. ...

Porsche has quietly released a handful of new images of the upcoming Mission E. Tucked away in a report that few people will probably read, the pictures give us a better look at the electric sedan. While they don’t reveal much, the images show the model will have a small frunk – front trunk – where the engine would normally be located. We also get a glimpse of the uncamouflaged bodywork and the relatively large trunk opening. The photos also tease the Mission E’s LED taillights and its electric charging port. Porsche didn’t reveal too many details about the model but said the car will be launched in 2019 with clear, puristic and pioneering Porsche e-Performance. Porsche just unveiled the Mission E Cross Turismo at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, a concept study representing an electrified Cross Utility Vehicle, or CUV for short. If you’re the type of person who loves outdoor activities, making your way to the ski slope, that sort of thing, then the Mission E Cross Turismo is meant for you, with its flexible interior and load-carrying systems. The concept measures 4.95 meters (16.2 ft) in length, boasts all-wheel drive and an 800-volt architecture. Visually, it features a low-cut bonnet, vertical air inlets in the front, matrix LED headlights, robust wheel arch protection and door sills, an imposing front spoiler and increased ground clearance for some light off-roading.
