The Spaniard joined forces with McLaren sponsor Logitech and professional outfit G2 in order to tackle the world of competitive gaming. Meanwhile, his team will be known as FA Racing G2 Logitech. New details of Gordon Murray's supercar are starting to emerge, as it will be built under the revived IGM brand, which was first used in the late '60s on the designer's 'T.1' IGM Ford Special. Teased in an official image that partially reveals its mid-engined shape with soft and muscular lines, the as-of-yet-unnamed vehicle is a 50-year celebration of Gordon Murray's career. Said to be "inspired by the engineering principles of the McLaren F1", the new supercar "will be built for contemporary driving conditions featuring the very latest materials and technology". The supercar will be made using the company's iStream Superlight production process, which uses high-strength aluminum sections instead of the steel or carbon fiber employed in iStream and iStream Carbon. The FIA has confirmed that the controversial halo cockpit protection will be introduced for the 2018 season. The decision comes just days after Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel tested the shield during practice at the British Grand Prix and said it made him feel dizzy. SkySports reports that a meeting of F1’s Strategy Group was held on Wednesday when the final decision was made. It is reported that most of the sport’s teams voted against the implementation of the halo but that the FIA is pushing ahead with the plan on safety grounds. In a statement, the FIA said “Following the unanimous agreement of the Strategy Group, in July 2016, to introduce additional frontal protection for Formula 1 and the repeated support from the drivers, the FIA confirms the introduction of the Halo for 2018. “Having developed and evaluated a large number of devices over the past five years, it had become clear that the Halo presents the best overall safety performance." Images of the new VLF F1 Roadster were published on Twitter ahead of the model’s debut at the Shanghai Motor Show. Henrik Fisker’s latest creation is basically the open-top version of the F1 Force, which means it’s still based on a Dodge Viper chassis and powertrain. Just like the F1 Force, power will come by an 8.4-litre V10 with 745hp, allowing the F1 Roadster to complete the 0-60mph (96 km/h) procedure in under three seconds, while topping out at 210mph (337km/h). Just like its fixed-roof sibling, the F1 Roadster’s exotic bodywork is made out of carbon fiber. As for further performance specs, customers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. There isn’t much official information out there yet, so we’ll probably have to wait for VLF Automotive to shed some light on more details, including their production plans. We have to admit we hopped on the hype train when  Autocar  reported earlier this week about McLaren’s plans for a true F1 successor with a similar three-seat layout. That train is now making an emergency stop since the company’s boss Mike Flewitt says it won’t happen because he does not believe there is a viable business case for it. We just heard that a new-age McLaren F1  could be created  and now,  Autocar  is reporting that such a model has already been signed off for production and will have a starting price of £2 million, more than double the P1. The publication suggests that the model will be created in extremely limited numbers by McLaren Special Operations and adopt the form of an exceptionally powerful GT car and the  F1's famed three-seat layou t. Those within the Woking-based automaker are apparently referring to the car as a 'hyper-GT' with it providing hypercar performance with the luxury of more subdued cruisers.  A McLaren insider said “It applies the F1’s three-seat configuration to a different need: rapid, cross-continental travel with supreme speed and style.
