You may find this hard to believe, given its hardcore nature, but the Aston Martin Valkyrie has become even more impressive with the AMR Pro track-only version. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in a world premiere, it’s the British brand’s answer to the McLaren P1 GTR and Ferrari FXX K. Just like its rivals, it uses a hybrid powertrain. In this case, it combines a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, sourced from Cosworth, with electric power. The whole assembly has yet to be detailed, but it’s said to produce in excess of 1,100 horsepower, combined. Tipping the scale at 1,000kg (2,205lbs), the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro exceeds the 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. Still, despite being officially presented, the car manufacturer remains tight-lipped when it comes to its exact specs. The all-new Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro is the British marque's track hypercar that will make you forget about Ferrari's FXX K and McLaren's P1 GTR. Developed in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and AF Racing, only 25 units of this track beast will be made, and all of them have been spoken for already, with deliveries to commence in 2020. The most striking differences over the street-legal version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie are found on the outside, where "all the aerodynamic surfaces have been revised in the pursuit of significantly increased downforce", in Aston's own words. The track-only Aston Martin Vulcan has just received a major upgrade package from the company’s newfound AMR performance sub-brand. The package focuses on extensive aerodynamic enhancements for more downforce and shorter gearing for better responsiveness, acceleration and faster lap times. The naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 remains unchanged, offering 820hp and 575lb-ft (779 Nm) of torque. The front end now features new louvered panels above the front wheel arches which help in extracting high-pressure air and reducing lift, with a pair of dive planes added to the sides of the nose. The front splitter has also gained turning vanes for better steering response. At the rear there is a new wing with a dual plane design, with its main element featuring a 20mm ‘Gurney’ flap supplemented by slotted wing endplates with additional 15mm Gurney flaps to increase downforce as much as possible.
