General Motor’s electric vehicle offensive is kicking into high gear as the company has introduced the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV. Featuring bold designs, affordable prices tags and ranges of at least 250 miles (402 km), the Bolts are part of GM’s plan to launch 30 new electric vehicles by 2025.  While they’re not as flashy as the Cadillac Lyriq or GMC Hummer EV, they have an important role to play in company push for a zero emissions future. Since its introduction in 2017, the Bolt has been a modest success as the company has sold over 100,000 units globally. More importantly, 75% of buyers are first time GM customers. General Motors CEO Mary Barra participated in the Barclays 2017 Global Automotive Conference in New York and she used her presentation to reveal a new Chevrolet Bolt-based crossover. Drawing inspiration from the Chevrolet FNR-X concept that debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year, the crossover has an aggressive front fascia with slender headlights that feature boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. The model also has dynamic bodywork, plastic body cladding, and a Bolt-like C-pillar. As part of the transition from concept to production, the styling has been toned down and the model has been equipped with traditional mirrors and door handles. The model will ride on the same platform that underpins the Chevrolet Bolt and it is one of two electric crossovers that is slated to arrive by 2020. With a combined range rating of  238 miles , the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt is arguably the most exciting new electric car to be launched in recent memory. And for those who live in the city, things get even better. While the Bolt's 238 mile range is indeed impressive, it becomes even more efficient during city driving and is capable of travelling 255 miles (410 km) on a single charge. By comparison, the Tesla Model S 70D, costing double that of the Bolt, has a city range of 242.8 miles (390 km). Additionally, Chevrolet says that the range of the Bolt can be increased by up to 5 per cent in city traffic when the ' Regen-On-Demand ' paddles are used, bumping up the city range even further. Where the affordable Bolt struggles however is on the highway. Looking to buy an EV? You're in luck, because there's a growing variety of them on the market, and some of them are quite affordable. If you wanted something that could take you over 200 miles on a single charge, though, you'd have to pony up big bucks. That all changes with the arrival of the new  Chevy Bolt , prices for which have just been announced to start at $37,495. That price includes destination, but doesn't take into account a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 that stands to reduce the take-home price to $29,995 (before further incentives in states like California, Colorado, Delaware, Louisiana, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Utah). Chevrolet has revealed that the  2017 Bolt  has an EPA-estimated range of 238 miles (383 km), well up on the 200-odd mile range given at the car's unveiling earlier in the year. Additionally, this figure is 18 miles further than Tesla expects its Model 3 to travel on a single charge, giving the Chevrolet Bolt another advantage before it arrives at dealerships in the coming months, a year before the  Model 3 .  To put the Bolt's range into perspective, GM's last all-electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Spark EV, had a range of just 82 miles. The powertrain driving the Chevrolet Bolt is a high capacity electric motor delivering 200 hp and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque.
