The veil has been lifted on the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, a luxurious new three-row variant that will be sold alongside the current two-row model. As we expected, the exterior design of the Grand Cherokee L is quite a bit different than the Grand Cherokee we’re familiar with. For example, the front end bears a resemblance to the Grand Wagoneer concept with slim, horizontal headlights and a seven-slate grille. Depending on the trim level, there are also LED daytime running lights positioned low in the bumper. Viewed from the side and the added length of the Grand Cherokee L becomes apparent. The wheelbase sits at 121.7 inches, meaning the SUV has a total length of 204.9 inches. Visible at the rear are slim taillights. After a long wait, the beloved Jeep Grand Wagoneer nameplate is back, albeit as a near-production concept vehicle. Judging by what this “concept” shows us, the full-size premium SUV will be a promising offering when it enters production next year as a 2022 model. The new Grand Wagoneer is a tech-laden, plug-in hybrid concept that features the industry’s first passenger infotainment screen in an SUV. The 10.25-inch screen allows occupants to watch media, browse the internet or find destinations and send them to the driver. The passenger-side screen is shielded from the driver by a privacy film on the glass, allowing them to focus on the 12.1-inch center console display and the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel instead. Additionally, there’s a 10.25-inch horizontal comfort touchscreen below the central display for controlling the seats and the four-zone climate control. With the unveiling of the plug-in hybrid versions of the Renegade and Compass at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Jeep has taken an important step into the future. The smallest member of the brand’s family, the Renegade, combines a new 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, for a total output said to stand in the 190-240 PS (187-237 hp / 140-178 kW) range. With the battery fully charged, it can be driven for around 50 km (31 miles) on electric power, at no more than 130 km/h (81 mph). When the ICE kicks in, the Renegade PHEV takes approximately 7 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph). The new plug-in hybrid version of the Compass enjoys up to 240 PS (237 hp / 178 kW) of combined power. We’ve already seen the first official photos of the Gladiator when the first specs also got leaked a couple of weeks ago. Now, however, we’ve got a lot more to see and read. The Jeep Gladiator will offer four trim levels — Sport, Sport S, Overland and Rubicon. The latter will be the most off-road-focused and will feature aluminum-bodied 2-inch diameter Fox shocks, full-length sidebars, an additional bar for the bed area, and 33-inch mud-terrain Falken M/T tires with C load rating. The Gladiator Rubicon will also offer the option of steel bumpers. The JT truck will ride on a 204-inch (5,181-mm) frame, making it 31 inches (787 mm) longer than the Wrangler Unlimited. It’s been over four years now since Jeep rolled out the Renegade, the boxier version of the Fiat 500X. So while it may not be time for complete replacement just yet, it was about due for a bit of a facelift. And that’s just what it has received. Unfortunately Fiat Chrysler has revealed precisely squat in terms of details, and only three images to show what it’s done to the baby Jeep. What we can tell from those images, though, is that the Renegade has had some minor nips and tucks here and there. Those are new headlights recessed next to Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille, and look closer to the units on the new Wrangler. The sheetmetal in the front fascia dips down lower around the airdam to encompass new vents and daytime running lights. And the lines look slightly more sharply creased. Jeep plans to expand its current range in three new segments for the brand, promising to launch 2 new models each year until 2022, the company’s CEO Mike Manley said at FCA’s five-year strategy announcement day. Jeep will launch a total of 10 plug-in hybrid models and four fully electric ones by 2022 and offer an electrified version for each nameplate in its range by 2021. The carmaker will launch the Wrangler-based pickup truck in 2019 and confirmed its plans for a “baby” Jeep model to slot under the Renegade and the revival of the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer as the brand’s flagship. The company will also add a three-row mid-sized SUV, expanding its presence in Jeep Cherokee’s segment. Jeep has unveiled seven new concepts for the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. First up, the 4SPEED concept is a lightweight Wrangler which has been equipped with a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber fender flares and a carbon fiber rear tub with perforated aluminum panels. The model also has a steeply raked windscreen, elongated door openings and a custom roll cage. The Wrangler’s overall length has been shortened by 22 inches (558.8 mm) and this helps to improve approach and departure angles. The model also has new front seats and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. Motivation is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is set to unveil a new five-year plan later this year and outspoken CEO Sergio Marchionne has provided a few hints at what we can expect. Speaking with Motor Trend, Marchionne confirmed the company still has plans to introduce a crossover that is based on the same platform that underpins the Chrysler Pacifica minivan. The executive said the design work has already been completed and everything is ready to go so "We can probably get it up and running in 18 months.” Little is known about the model but the company's original plan called for the full-size crossover to be launched in 2017. It would have be sold as a Chrysler and offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Meet the 2018 Jeep Grand Commander, a China-only 7-seater SUV that's rumored to make its public debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Once its wheels touch showroom floors, it will compete against the likes of the Volkswagen Teramont and the Toyota Highlander, with prices said to start at around 250,000 yuan ($39,000). Responsible for manufacturing the Grand Commander is the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced it will unveil a refreshed take on the Jeep Cherokee at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show next month. The automaker isn't giving much in the way of details to go on. But along with these four images, it has confirmed that the 2019 Cherokee will encompass a more athletic yet upscale design and more efficient powertrain options. Jeep introduced the current KL-generation Cherokee in 2013 as a 2014 model with a far more crossover-like form than the rugged versions that preceded it under the same nameplate. That may have left it out of favor with the most hardcore off-roading enthusiasts, but has resulted in sales figures roughly double those of the more trucklike Liberty it replaced. Following the 2018 Wrangler's premiere in LA last week, Jeep are now looking to expand their presence in China with an entirely new SUV, named Grand Commander. The patent images that leaked from the country's National Trademark Office and were posted by Autohome, reveal a design similar to the Grand Cherokee, at the front. However, it appears that the new SUV is actually the production version of the Jeep Yuntu Concept, which was shown for the first time at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. It comes with a generous footprint that will allow it to compete locally against the Toyota Highlander and Volkswagen Teramont, offering seating for seven, unlike the study's six-seat layout. Power is believed to come from the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder that's found on the new Wrangler, where it makes 268hp and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of torque. Following the unveiling of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler at the LA Auto Show, head of Jeep, Mike Manley, has confirmed that the new Wrangler will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain in 2020. Unfortunately, the automaker has failed to provide any specifics about the model, including any possible fuel economy numbers. We don’t even know if the model will launch for the 2020 model year or during the 2020 calendar year. If we were to have a guess, we’d be inclined to say that the Wrangler’s hybrid system will probably share components with Fiat Chrysler’s only other plug-in hybrid, a fuel-efficient variant of the Chrysler Pacifica. That vehicle features a 16 kWh battery and has a combined rating of 84 mpg. Beyond the hybrid setup, another impending powertrain for the latest-generation Wrangler will be a 3.0-liter V6 diesel. It’s finally here. After years of waiting, months of spy shots and weeks of rampant speculation, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler has finally premiered at the LA Auto Show. Underpinning the all-new Wrangler is a ladder-frame chassis complete with upgraded suspension and complemented by aluminum body panels. This allows the off-roader to be 200 lbs lighter than its predecessor yet still more rigid. In terms of engines, the range starts with FCA’s familiar Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 delivering 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Mated to eight a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, the four-door Wrangler Unlimited is officially rated at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway with the manual.
