2020 Range Rover Evoque Revealed

Image
Say hello to the second-generation Range Rover Evoque, arriving seven and a half years after production of the outgoing model commenced. Despite the age gap, the crossovers share an obvious resemblance. In designing the all-new 2019 Evoque, Land Rover opted against ditching the current model’s much-loved sporty design and have retained the same basic shape we’re familiar with. Viewed from the side, the new Evoque’s profile is almost identical to the original. That’s no bad thing, however. While the Evoque’s shape hasn’t changed much, it does look significantly different in its second generation. At the front, Land Rover has taken obvious design inspiration from the mid-range Velar incorporating similarly-slim headlights and a narrow front grille. In certain specifications, the 2019 Evoque has largely-identical front air intakes to its older sibling. Again, that’s no bad thing but it could make differentiating between the two in traffic quite difficult. Much the same c...

Range Rover Evoque Coupe Dropped Due To Slow Sales

Image
The Range Rover Evoque is one of the few crossovers offered in three body styles but it appears the company has quietly decided to drop the three-door variant. In a statement to Autocar, a Land Rover spokesperson confirmed the news by saying “From the 2019 model year, Land Rover has rationalized its Range Rover Evoque body style offering to concentrate on the five-door model and convertible, which account for the majority of sales.” There’s no word on how many Evoque coupes the company has managed to sell but the publication says sales dropped off after the convertible variant was introduced. Sourced also indicated sales of the five-door variant account for as much as 95% of overall Evoque sales. If that figure is correct, it’s not surprising that Land Rover decided to drop the Evoque coupe. MINI made a similar decision a few years ago when it dropped the Paceman to focus on the Countryman. In the United States in 2014, MINI sold 2,082 Paceman crossovers compared to 22,645 Cou...

Range Rover SV Coupe: First Official Images

Image
Long before there were crossover coupes like the BMW X4, there were two-door SUVs which could tackle a lot more than the parking lots of suburbia. The Range Rover SV Coupe recalls this era as it pays tribute to the original model which was launched as a two-door in 1970. Seen here in these newly surfaced images, the all-new model is unmistakably a Range Rover as the front and rear ends closely echo the facelifted variant which was introduced last October. That’s where the styling similarities end as the SV Coupe adopts a rakish windscreen and a steeply sloped roof with panoramic glass panels. The model also eschews the rear doors and adopts new side vents as well as what appears to be a reduced ride height. The upscale styling continues in the cabin as we can see premium leather upholstery, luxurious wood trim and metallic accents. The overall design echoes the standard model but the coupe features two individual rear seats which are separated by a full-length center ...

The 5.0-liter supercharged V8 features new forged pistons, an upgraded su...

Billed as the “world’s first full-size luxury SUV coupe,” the model will be built by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations and feature a “seductive body design” as well as a “supremely refined interior.” The company isn’t saying much about the model but it was recently caught undergoing testing. Photos showed the coupe will have a familiar design but adopt a sportier greenhouse and a more dynamic roofline. The interior photo released by the company reveals an upscale cabin with premium leather upholstery, wood trim, and a full-length center console. We can also see individual rear seats and numerous metallic accents. Land Rover says the vehicle will pay tribute to the original Range Rover which was launched as a two-door coupe in 1970. Land Rover Kills Three-Door Range Rover Evoque In U.S.

Image
Land Rover has made the decision to kill off the Range Rover Evoque three-door in the United States. Motor Authority reports that the British automaker pulled the plug due to poor demand for the model in the U.S., where it was easily out-sold by the five-door and the two-door convertible. Sales of the three-door Evoque will continue in other international markets. In a bid to update the popular SUV, Land Rover is currently developing a next-generation model, expected to arrive in late 2018 as a 2019 model year in the U.S. The new model will retain the same D8 architecture as the current car but a host of new technologies will be featured. Styling inspiration will also be taken from the Range Rover Velar. Carscoops

Jaguar Land Rover Models To Adopt New Nomenclature

Image
Jaguar Land Rover is set to introduce a new naming scheme for all of its 2018 models onwards. A reader from Auto Express recently uncovered the new nomenclature after spotting an F-Type prototype with a badge reading ‘P380 AWD’. It is believed that the P stands for petrol and the 380 refers to the horsepower output. It is reported that this scheme will be adopted by JLR’s full range of models over the coming months, including the entry-level four-cylinder F-Type that’ll be dubbed the P300. Similarly, the Range Rover Velar will be sold as a D180 model and the range-topper will adopt the same P380 badging as the aforementioned F-Type due to its use of the same engine. Beyond the brand’s diesel and petrol vehicles adopting new names, it is reported that future EVs will also follow a similar path. For example, the 395 hp Jaguar I-Pace could be badged the E400 (not sure how Mercedes will feel about that…) while hybrid versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport may receive ‘H...
