2020 Audi RS5 Coupe And Sportback Gain Revised Exteriors And New Tech

Image
Audi has revised its RS5 Coupe and Sportback models, giving them a more aggressive appearance and new MMI touch technology. The 444 HP 2.9-liter TFSI twin turbo V6 unit however remains the same. The exterior of the two RS5 models now features a wider and flatter Singleframe grille, following in the footsteps of the latest RS6 and RS7. Meanwhile, the implied air vents above the grille take us back to the iconic Audi Sport quattro from the 80s. “The revision of the RS5 Coupe and RS5 Sportback marks the successful conclusion of our 25th anniversary and the renewal of our model range,” said Audi Sport exec Oliver Hoffmann. “Thanks to the standard permanent quattro drive, they occupy a special position in their segment.” The 1.6 inch (40 mm) wider wheel arches and darkened matrix LED headlight bezels serve to further differentiate these new RS5 models from their regular A5 counterparts. Also new are the contoured air inlets that now feature a pentagonal cut, as well as the redes...

2019 Audi RS5 Sportback Is America’s Placeholder For The RS4 Avant

Image
Enthusiasts in America have missed out on a few generations of Audi’s RS4 wagon. While the German automaker believes that it can’t sell wagons in the country, there is some good news. Audi just introduced a Sportback variant of the RS 5 Coupe, which is neatly called the RS5 Sportback, and it’s coming to the U.S. We first heard that Audi would be bringing the RS5 Sportback to that part of the world earlier this January when Scott Keogh, Audi of America president, confirmed the bit of news. We knew it would be fast and good looking, but boy is the Sportback model with the extra performance bits a handsome car. The RS5 Sportback features the same monstrous powertrain as the RS5 Coupe we saw earlier this month. That means power comes from a twin-trubocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine that cranks out a generous 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The motor is paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and features a rear-biased all-wheel drive system. While the RS5 Coupe w...

ABT’s Audi RS5-R Coming To Geneva Motor Show With 530PS

Image
ABT has announced its presence at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show with a tuned Audi RS5 Coupe, which is limited to only 50 units. The premium compact car’s 2.9-liter biturbo V6 engine has received a few upgrades that allow it to produce 530PS (523hp) and 690Nm (509lb-ft) of torque. That’s 80PS (79hp) and 90Nm (66lb-ft) of torque more than the stock model, enough for this Audi RS5 Coupe to complete the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) acceleration in 3.6 seconds, an 0.3sec improvement. The new ABT RS5-R also features an upgraded suspension with sport stabilizers and height adjustable springs, with the tuner claiming that a special coilover suspension is under development in collaboration with KW. Its head-turning ability has been enhanced by the special green shade, tweaked grille, front apron, side skirt add-ons, wheel arch vents, decklid spoiler, and rear diffuser with incorporated quad exhaust pipes. The 21-inch wheels replace the standard 19-inch ones, and are wrapped in 275/2...

Audi Launches New RS5 Coupe With 450 PS Bi-Turbo V6 TFSI

Image
As Audi's first Audi Sport model in the new RS design idiom, the new RS5 features a newly developed bi-turbo V6 unit good for 450 PS (443 HP) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. The all-new Audi RS5 is pretty easy to identify compared to the regular A5. It's got massive air inlets, a wider grille, additional lateral air intakes and outlets, tinted bezels for the optional Matrix LEDs and wider wheel arches. Other visual features include the RS-specific diffuser insert, oval tailpipes of the RS exhaust system and the surface-mounted spoiler lip. Then there's the standard 19" wheels, though buyers might consider going for the more imposing 20" optional alloys. Powering the all-new RS5 is a 2.9-liter TFSI V6 bi-turbo engine, which Audi built from the ground up. It produces 450 PS (331 kW) as well as 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, which is an increase of 170 Nm (125 lb-ft) compared to the previous generation model. In a straight line, it will go from zero to 100 ...

Audi Announces Three Premieres For Geneva, RS5 Coupe Is One Of Them

Image
Audi's product offensive continues with a display of power at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Described as a "coupe from Audi Sport that perfectly combines performance and aesthetics", the new RS5 Coupe is coming to complete the new A5 Coupe family, and to sit above the S5 in the range. It's expected to need less than 4 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint, and to reach an electronically capped top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), due to its new 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. This should produce more than 444 horses and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, as we've previously reported. Created to rival the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, the Audi Q8 will also land at the brand's stand in Geneva, straight from the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, where it made its global premiere. The dynamic SUV is currently in concept form, but it will eventually hit the assembly line. Rounding up the list of premieres will be what the Germans refer to as "a natural gas...
