Ferrari F8 Spider Is A 711 HP Droptop Chasing The 720S Spider

Image
We all knew the Ferrari F8 Spider was coming and the Italian car manufacturer has just taken the covers of its latest mid-engined droptop. Powering the F8 Spider is the same twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine as the F8 Tributo coupe to pump out a hearty 711 and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. Ferrari says the F8 Spider accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds, hits 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.2 seconds, and continues through to a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). The engine itself is very similar to the unit that powered the Ferrari 488 Pista, hence why it produces the same amount of grunt. Ferrari also uses exhaust manifolds for the F8 Tributo and F8 Spider made from lightweight Inconel. Ferrari quotes a dry weight with all the available carbon fiber trimmings of 3086 lbs (1400 kg) which is a touch heavier than the F8 Tributo. Like the 458 Spider and 488 Spider before it, the Ferrari F8 Spider uses a retractable hardtop. It takes just 14 seconds to deploy or ...

Ferrari To Follow Up F8 Tributo With Four Other New Models In 2019

Ferrari will follow up the 2019 launch of the F8 Tributo supercar with the debuts of four other vehicles this year. Speaking to Australia’s Which Car, Ferrari senior vice president of commercial and marketing, Enrico Galliera, confirmed that the automaker will introduce a second mid-engine platform this year to slot below the new F8 Tributo. “Five will come in 2019, which is probably the biggest effort. It’s the start of the new generation of product. “Some of them are replacing an existing product, some of them are not so. Already in 2019 you will see some products that are existing in the product range, and another thing that I can say is that we will nurture both the GT segment, and the sports segment,” Galliera confirmed. Few details about Ferrari’s entry-level mid-engine platform sports car are known but it’s been confirmed that the vehicle, and any future variants, will use a turbocharged V6 engine. Speaking about this vehicle, Galliera said that it will be more suited...

The Ferrari 488 GTB Is Dead, Meet The 720 PS F8 Tributo!

Image
As promised, Ferrari has just released the first details about its world debut for the Geneva Motor Show. And its name is the F8 Tributo. It’s a really important one, too, as it replaces the 488 GTB. The latest in a long line of two-seater berlinettas pays homage both to the engine that powers it as well as the recipe that has been so successful over the years. While the F8 Tributo is the 488 GTB‘s successor, it carries on with the 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. However, the powertrain sees significant improvements. It now produces 720 PS (710 hp) at 8,000 rpm and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque from 3,250 rpm, an increase of 50 PS and 10 Nm (7 lb-ft) compared to its predecessor. And while Ferrari doesn’t explicitly say it, the fact that it has the exact same specs as the 488 Pista hints that it could very well be the same engine. The only difference is the peak torque of 770 Nm comes slightly earlier in the 488 Pista, at 3,000 rpm. What this means is the F8 Tributo delivers ...
