New Genesis G70 Shooting Brake Is Brand’s First Ever Wagon And It’s Made For Europe

Image
Like Americans, Europeans are enamored with SUVs but across the pond, there’s still plenty of love left for station wagons that often prove more popular than their sedan counterparts. With Genesis having taken its European assault seriously, the Koreans have presented their very first estate model under the ‘Shooting Brake’ moniker based on the new G70 compact luxury sedan. Designed with European customers in mind (sorry America), the G70 Shooting Brake will be the fifth model Genesis has confirmed for its market launch in the continent this summer, after the G70 and G80 sedans, and the GV70 and GV80 SUVs. With the Audi A4 Avant, BMW 3-Series Touring and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate in its sights, the 2021 G70 Shooting Brake has identical dimensions to the sedan. It is 4,685 mm (184.4 in) long, 1,850 mm (72.8 in) wide and 1,400 mm (55.1 in) tall, and has a 2,835 mm (111.6 in) long wheelbase. The redesigned rear end and the longer roof have opened up more boot space, with the automaker ...

2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake Combines Performance And Practicality

Image
The Mercedes-AMG lineup is continuing to grow as the company has introduced the new CLA 35 Shooting Brake. Designed to appeal to drivers who want a little performance with their practicality, the CLA 35 Shooting Brake has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which sends power to a standard all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the wagon to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Besides the upgraded engine, the entry-level AMG has a unique grille and an AMG Line front bumper with flics near the air intakes.  Designers also installed a front splitter, silver chrome accents and aerodynamically optimized 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels.  Other notable features include sportier side skirts, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a unique rear bumper with a...

All-New Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake Blends Practicality With Sensual Purity

Image
Mercedes has lifted the veils off their all-new CLA Shooting Brake at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, adding a touch of practicality to the four-door Coupe model’s expressive styling. The new car is more grown up compared to its predecessor, measuring an extra 48 mm (1.88 inches) in length, an additional 53 mm (2.08 inches) in width and 2 fewer mm (0.07 inches) in height, while the wheelbase has grown by 30 mm (1.18 inches). The exterior aspect of the all-new CLA Shooting Brake doesn’t come as a shock. We knew what to expect ever since we saw our first spy images and began applying those visual cues to the already-unveiled CLA Coupe. The Shooting Brake features the same “sharknose” frond end design, with an elongated hood and striking powerdomes. Since the car utilizes Mercedes‘ Sensual Purity design language, there’s a considerably less pronounced shoulder line, while the entire body features soft sculptural curvatures. Of course, the main addition, compared to the regular CLA...

New Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake, Concept EQV And GLC Facelift Confirmed For Geneva

Image
The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV and the CLA Shooting Brake headline the automaker’s presence at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The company has announced the full lineup for the 89th edition of the Swiss auto show and there’s a lot to talk about. For starters, the Concept EQV is described as “the world’s first SUV in the premium segment with purely battery-electric drive.” Where does that leave the EQC, then? Anyway, Mercedes says the EQV study is a near-series concept vehicle that combines “locally emission-free mobility with impressive performance, maximum functionality and aesthetic design.” Unless the press release mistakenly describes the EQV as an SUV instead of an MPV (which is most likely the case), we should be in for a big surprise. Judging by the study’s name, one would be inclined to think it’s an all-electric version of the V-Class. The mystery will no doubt be solved on March 5 when the press conference is scheduled. Since we’ve mentioned the V-Class, the people-...

New Kia Proceed Concept Shooting Brake Previews The Next Pro_Cee'd

Image
It seems that Kia is looking to part ways with the classic look of the first two generations Pro_Cee'd, as the third one will be wrapped under an entirely new design. That car is previewed by the Proceed Concept, which was unveiled ahead of its 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show premiere, but for whatever reason, the automaker refuses to use the words 'Shooting Brake' when talking about its sleek shape. Instead, it describes it as an "extended hot hatch" that combines "a striking visual presence with a dash of real-world versatility". Its presence is highlighted by a very attractive profile, with a sloping roofline, missing B pillars, short front overhang, and 20-inch wheels. The Stinger-like front end, muscular proportions, distinctive design cues, GT logo, and Lava Red paintwork also dominate its look. Drivers are greeted by an illuminated outline of the study's glasshouse as they approach the car, as this feature serves as "a powerful noct...

Kia's New Shooting Brake Concept Car Previews Next-Gen Cee'd

Image
Kia's designers have worked around the clock to make sure that the new concept car will be ready for its 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show premiere. The as-of-yet-unnamed study came to life at the brand's design center in Frankfurt, 500 meters (1,640 feet) from where it will be unveiled, and serves as a preview for the next generation Cee'd. Moreover, it also presents a new body type for Kia: "extended hot hatch", which apparently combines the best out of both worlds, by being longer than the usual hatchback, and slightly shorter than a compact estate. Not much else is known about it so far, but the teaser image that accompanies the short press release reveals its beautiful styling, highlighted by the short overhangs, raked roof, large wheel arches, rear light strip, missing side mirrors, and what appear to be frameless side windows, and B pillars incorporated into the doors. "The concept presents a new body type for Kia. The extended hot hatch styling ret...

Aston Martin Unveils The Vanquish Zagato Speedster And Shooting Brake

Image
Aston Martin has released the first pictures of the Vanquish Zagato Speedster and Shooting Brake. Set to join the previously announced Coupe and Volante, the latest two additions are already a hit as Aston Martin has sold out of its entire production run of the Speedster. This is an impressive feat as the model isn't slated to go into production until next year. The Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake is the newest entry to the lineup and it boasts a dramatic body which is sure to garner plenty of attention. Aston Martin only released a couple of pictures of the model but the company says the vehicle is a "strict two-seater" with a unique roof which has a glass inlay that allows light to flood into the cabin. Speaking of the interior, the Shooting Brake has herringbone carbon fiber trim, anodized bronze controls, and optional aniline leather upholstery. Buyers will also find a power tailgate which opens to reveal a "luxuriously trimmed rear cabin area" compl...

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Is The Finest Of Them All

Image
As promised, the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo has debuted ahead of the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2017. Sticking true to the 2012 concept, it adds some extra practicality and style to the second-generation Panamera family. The style differences between the Sport Turismo and regular, run-of-the-mill Panamera models are immediately noticeable. From the B-pillar back, the roofline of the Sport Turismo stretches much further back than in the sedan and at a less acute rake. This allows for increased headroom for rear seat passengers as well as Shooting Brake-style lines that allows for greater luggage space, 520 liters in fact. That figure increases to 1,390 liters with the rear seats folded down. As with the Panamera five-door, the Sport Turismo still measures 5,049 mm in length and 1,937 mm in width but is 5 mm higher. The new roofline also allows the Sport Turismo to be the first Panamera that can fit three people in the rear, rather than just two. Another interesting element ...
