Designed to be even more exclusive than the standard Maybach S-Class, the S680 has a handcrafted twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,001 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. This enables the Bentley Flying Spur and Rolls-Royce Ghost competitor to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). Speaking of performance, the model is rear-biased as 69% of the engine’s torque goes to the rear wheels.  The massive sedan also features rear-axle steering to help improve maneuverability. Mercedes has a new luxury king in its range in the form of the 2021 Maybach S-Class, an ultra-posh take on the already pretty loaded S-Class primarily designed for chauffeured driving. The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class features an 18 cm (7 inches) longer wheelbase, at 3396 mm (133.7 inches), offering an even more spacious environment for the rear passengers compared to its predecessor. There’s also an “active noise compensation” system that sends counter-phased audio signals to cancel road noise before it reaches the occupants’ ears. Depending on the market, customers will get to choose between the Mercedes-Maybach S580 4Matic, which is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 making 496 HP and has a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that provides an extra 21 HP, and the V12-powered S650, which will continue using the twin-turbo 6.0-liter unit with 621 HP, possibly combined with all-wheel-drive as well. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS has been a long time coming, but now it’s finally here – except it debuts at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China instead of the ongoing LA Auto Show. Marking the first time the Maybach emblem is put on a production model that’s not an S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC represents Stuttgart’s pinnacle in luxury SUVs. As such, it is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 550 HP (558 PS) at 6,000 – 6,500 rpm and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque at 2,500 – 5,000 rpm. This engine variant was developed exclusively for Maybach and is combined with the 48-volt system EQ Boost, which adds 22 HP (16 kW) of power and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of instant torque. We’ve seen the teasers. We’ve seen the leaked photos. Now Daimler has officially lifted the veil off its latest concept. Debuting at the Beijing Auto Show this week, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept showcases a new ultra-high-end crossover from the German automaker. And it could very well stand to preview the next-generation production GLS. The Vision Ultimate Luxury sits high like an SUV. But instead of a wagon body-style it adopts a three-box form. So it has a conventional trunk like a sedan, not the liftgate that you’d find most SUVs. Sorta like a Suzuki X90, only bigger. Less than a week before its world premiere at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Concept has leaked online in all of its glory. As you can see, the vehicle is not exactly a Maybach version of the new GLS, as it was previously reported. It actually looks more like a high-riding luxury sedan. It does get a nice face though, inspired by the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 studies, a strange rear end, sleek profile, lots of chrome accessories, jacked-up suspension and turbine-style alloy wheels. The images, leaked by Mercedes-Benz themselves, provide us with access into the cabin too, which combines white leather with wood accents and more chrome trim. The top of the dashboard is wrapped in brown leather, and uses the same pattern as the front grille for the air vents. Mercedes-Maybach will unveil a brand new concept at Auto China 2018 in Beijing at the end of this month, and by the looks of it, it’s going to be something truly spectacular. While the teaser isn’t too revealing, we can still see the massive center console with a floating design, indirectly pointing to this being an SUV. If that’s true, then it could very well be the rumored flagship GLS we kept hearing about last month. Sticking to what we can see, the concept seems to feature four individual seats, aluminum inserts on the steering wheel (like on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet), wood trim across the dashboard and door panels and multiple gold accents throughout. Then there’s the white leather, Maybach logos and the ambient lighting, which together create a predominantly luxurious atmosphere inside the vehicle. After updating the S-Class last month, Mercedes-Maybach has now focused its attention on its stretched sibling, the Pullman. The luxury car now features a new front grille, which was previewed by the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Concept, a couple of years ago. It also gets 20-inch wheels, with a 10-hole design, and more exterior colors to choose from, including two-tone finishes. Inside its 6.5-meter (21.3ft) long body, the 2019 Mercedes-Maybach Pullman can be had with new exclusive colors. The list includes Magma Grey, Mahogany Brown and Silk Beige/Deep Sea Blue. A front-view camera is also available, which allows passengers in the rear compartment to monitor the traffic in front, even with the partition screen closed. Mercedes-Benz has been responsible for a staggering list of safety innovations. And many of those have debuted first on the S-Class. Now the top of that line is introducing a new safety technology. Implemented on certain examples of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is a new Digital Light system that’s far more advanced than any headlights we’ve seen to date. The system encompasses over a million pixels of illumination in each of the headlamps. What’s more is they can be individually controlled by the on-board computers to project specific symbols onto the road to help the driver stay on the proverbial straight and narrow. For one, the system takes the Adaptive Highbeam Assist function even further by selectively switching off individual lighting elements when a vehicle approaches in the opposite direction to avoid blinding the other driver. Want the ultimate luxury sedan, when even an “ordinary” Mercedes-Benz S-Class won’t do? The Maybach version may be just the ticket. And now Mercedes has luxed it up even further. Set to debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show next month, the updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets a restyled grille, two-tone paint options, a fresh set of wheels, and additional interior treatments. That new grille is inspired by pinstripe suits, and draws from the nose on the rather stunning Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 coupe concept that debuted at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the summer of 2016.
