BMW has officially unveiled the 2022 M5 CS. Billed as the “quickest and most powerful production BMW car ever,” the M5 CS features a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that has been tuned to produce 627 hp (468 kW / 636 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the M5 Competition. If you keep your foot planted on the accelerator, the car will eventually hit a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h). Sticking with the performance theme, the M5 CS features an Active M Differential and a selectable all-wheel drive system just like the standard M5. This is the facelifted 2021 BMW 5-Series, complete with a sharp new look and bringing with it a host of new technologies. The exterior design is easily discernible from the outgoing 5-Series model. Found up front are new standard Adaptive LED headlights that are slimmer in profile and complete with two L-shaped daytime running lights. These DRLs double as the turn signals. Spin around to the rear and you will find new taillights and trapezoidal tailpipes. Changes have also been made to the M Sport Package with new front and rear bumpers, enlarged front air intakes, a rear trunk lid spoiler, and a re-sculpted rear diffuser. Interior updates are quite subtle. All variants come complete with BMW’s iDrive 7 infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and include navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. BMW has revealed the Touring version of the 5-Series ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show.  This is the second variant of  BMW’s executive model  and is developed specifically with the European market in mind. Obviously the new  5-Series Touring  benefits from the same lightweight chassis technology found in the Sedan while also gaining a standard rear air suspension with automatic self-leveling. The boot capacity has grown to 570lt with the rear seats in place and can reach up to 1,700lt if you fold them away. Appearances can be misleading; the  G30 5-Series , for instance,  does  look generic 21st century BMW and kind of a careful evolution of its predecessor, but in reality it’s much more than that. The seventh iteration of the 5-Series sticks with Munich’s current design language and is reminiscent of a scaled-down 7, only with more aggressively penned sides and a wider, lower stance than the previous generation. Under the skin, though, it’s all change. The new saloon is based on the CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform that makes extensive use of advanced, lightweight and even though it does without the  7-Series ’ carbon fiber, total weight has been trimmed by as much as 100 kg (220lbs), 70kg (154 lbs) of which come from the chassis alone.
