The Mercedes-AMG GT lineup is expanding as the automaker has introduced the new GT R Roadster. Essentially drop top version of the range-topping coupe, the GT R Roadster has a triple-layer fabric soft top with a lightweight structure constructed out of aluminum, magnesium and steel. The model also has gloss black mirror caps, yellow brake calipers and 19- / 20-inch forged wheels. Moving into the cabin, drivers are greeted by a familiar cockpit that has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and black carbon fiber / piano lacquer trim. The model also comes equipped with black Nappa leather AMG Performance seats and an individually numbered badge on the center console. A number of different options will be available including heated / cooled seats and the AirScarf neck-level heating system. Mercedes has announced the lineup of its LA Auto Show display, which will include the reveal of the new limited-edition AMG GT R PRO, an even more track-focused version of the AMG GT’s faster derivative to date. The new Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO features a range of modifications, based on the company’s findings from their AMG GT3 and AMG GT4 race cars. It wasn’t that long ago when Tobias Moers hinted at a AMG GT R ‘Club Sport’, and there it is. Mercedes will also reveal an update for the whole AMG GT range that will include modifications both inside and out in order to “emphasize the close relationship to the 4-door AMG GT Coupé”. Mercedes has been supplying F1 with official safety cars for over 20 years now, with all of them being eminently fast and powerful. This one however is the most powerful yet. It’s a new Mercedes-AMG GT R that’s been outfitted to set the pace this year, replacing the GT S that has filled the position until now. The top version of Affalterbach’s dedicated sports car packs the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as so many other AMG-tuned models. But in the GT R, it’s tuned to deliver 577 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to send the Porsche 911 rival rocketing to 60 in 3.5 seconds. The hardcore version of the Mercedes-AMG GT family, the  GT R , will make an appearance next month, at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed between June 23 and 26.  While Mercedes hasn't announced anything yet, Autoexpress  says that  tire manufacturer Michelin included the GT R in a list of vehicles that will appear in the supercar paddock it sponsors.  Not much is currently known about the  Mercedes-AMG GT R , except that it will gain uprated brakes, stiffer springs and revised steering, to cope with the extra punch delivered by the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, expected to produce 570 PS (562 HP), according to the latest reports. However, previous data indicated that the total output could stand as much as 600 PS (592 HP).
