The Geneva Motor Show has just wrapped up its press days, but already some are starting to look to next season. That includes Koenigsegg, which came to the show this year with two Regeras and a restored CCX – models we’ve already seen, but never seem to grow tired of seeing again. Next year, though, Christian von Koenigsegg and company will have something new to showcase. And we already have early indications that it’ll be even more extreme. “We have a replacement car coming after the Agera RS,” Koenigsegg told Top Gear. “The Regera is, let’s say, the best car we can build for ‘normal road use’. It’s a kind of GT car. The replacement for the Agera, Agera RS and One:1 is not a hyper-GT. It’s more race-like. There's a high-speed grudge match going down between several manufacturers to see who can make the fastest street-legal production automobile. And the latest blow has been struck by Koenigsegg. Though details are still to be confirmed, the Swedish supercar manufacturer revealed late yesterday that it managed to clock 277.9 miles per hour in an Agera RS. The feat was accomplished in the desert around Pahrump, Nevada, driven by factory test driver Niklas Lilja. The speed was taken as an average, as per generally acknowledged standards, of runs in both directions in order to account for wind speed, and was recorded not on the car's own instruments, but by a separate Racelogic module. If confirmed as official, the achievement will shatter the previous record that has stood since 2010 when the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport clocked 267.8 mph, verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. This is the new Koenigsegg Agera RS1, the latest Swedish hypercar set to make its public premiere at the New York Auto Show. Koenigsegg tells us that the latest bespoke version of the Agera RS is specifically named as ‘RS1’ by its owner. As you would expect from a bespoke vehicle of this caliber, he and his son were “intensively involved in the entire specification and build process”. Finished in Arctic White with blue details on the front winglets, side skirts, diffuser and rear wing, the Agera RS1 is joining the small and exclusive family of US-spec Koenigseggs. The cabin is dominated by the use of bright blue Alcantara which is combined with polished carbon fiber and black anodized aluminum on the dashboard. Power comes from the company’s known beast, a hand-built twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 with 1,360hp and 1,011lb-ft of peak torque. This colossal amount of power runs through a seven-speed automatic gearbox, sending the RS1 to 62mph from rest in 2.8 seconds and on to 186mph ...

With the  introduction of the Regera , Koenigsegg’s Agera model is on its way out. But it won’t leave in a hurry, or without a bang.  Manufactured since 2011, the Agera constantly evolved into an ultra-exclusive , overpowered hypercar, with the One:1 and RS variants representing the model’s climax. But it looks like the small, independent Swedish car maker left its best for last, unveiling the RS-based RSR as the swan-song for the line-up. This “ final variant ” was announced as a three car series at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and each one has been commissioned by Koenigsegg Japan. Visual-wise, the RSR comes with a removable hardtop and with its own identity (although only Koenigsegg aficionados would be able to tell it apart from the RS), featuring the One:1 styled roof scoop, a custom-designed venture at the rear with adjustable winglets and the top-mounted rear wing available as standard.  The three units, finished in turquoise blue, black and white (each with a ta...

Last week in Monterey, Koenigsegg delivered the  first Agera RS homologated for the United States  to its eagerly awaiting owner. And now it's about to do the same at the  Salon Privé Concours d'Elegance  with the model's first European delivery. But it's far from “just another” Koenigsegg. Dubbed “Naraya” by its owner (whose  identity  remains undisclosed), this particular  Agera RS  has been constructed and finished, both inside and out, in blue-tinted carbon fiber. But the most striking feature could be the gold trim. Koenigsegg flew in Italian craftsman Ettore “Blaster” Callegaro, who spent two full weeks – working 12-hour days, six days a week – applying the 18-carat gold leaf embellishments by hand.
