A year on from the debut of the re-styled and re-engineered Huracan EVO and Lamborghini has officially presented a new rear-wheel drive derivative, aptly named the Huracan EVO Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD). Not the dandiest of names, especially for an Italian supercar, but Lamborghini promises to “put the driver at the center of the driving experience”, much like its predecessors, the 2009 Gallardo LP 550-2 that re-introduced RWD to Lamborghini’s range after a decade or so, and the original Huracan before it. “The Huracán EVO rear-wheel drive puts the car in the driver’s hands: the driving experience is delivered by the hardware,” says Lamborghini CEO, Stefano Domenicali. “This car reminds the driver of Lamborghini’s pure engineering origins: the driver is at the center of the Huracán EVO RWD’s performance, with unfiltered feedback and an emotive and more engaging driving experience controlled by the pilot.” Power comes from a de-tuned version of the all-wheel drive Huracan EVO’s,...

The rear-wheel drive Audi R8, which was introduced a couple of years ago, has returned for the 2020MY, albeit with a few changes and a new moniker, as it’s now named the V10 RWD instead of the RWS. More importantly, though, it’s not a limited edition anymore, as it joins the R8 family as a production-series model. Available in both body styles, Coupe and Spyder, it will launch in European markets early next year, priced from €144,000 ($159,875) and €157,000 ($174,310) in Germany, respectively. The new R8 RWD sports a few visual updates on the outside that allow it to fly under the radar – well, as much as it can with that shape, anyway. These, according to Audi, include the front splitter, air inlets and air outlet grille at the rear that have become broader. As promised, Kia has turned its impressive  2011 GT rear-wheel drive sports sedan concept  into an equally impressive production model named the Stinger that was presented today ahead of a world premiere  tomorrow in Detroit . It’s not the Korean firm’s first attempt at a luxury rear wheel drive sedan, as  the K900 preceded it , but unlike the latter, the Stinger is a much more youthful and striking proposition.  It has a sleek design with somewhat derivative details – especially the rear, which strongly reminds us of  the Audi A7 Sportback , but we guess that’s to be expected when the person leading Kia’s design division is ex-Audi designer, Peter Schreyer.  While placed against both the BMW 3-Series and  4-Series Gran Coupe , as well as the Audi A4 and A5, Infiniti Q50 and Lexus IS, Kia says that, at 114.4 inches (2,905mm), it not only has a longer wheelbase than those models, but the Lexus GS and Mercedes CLS as well.  Furthermore, it’s...

Typically, when Lamborghini converts one of its all-wheel drive models to rear drive only, it de-tunes the engine slightly. Otherwise it'd just be too much to handle.  Novitec , however, is going the opposite direction. The German tuner's Torado division has released a series of enhancements for the  Huracan LP580-2  – the rear-drive version of the  Huracan LP610-4 . Only instead of 572 horsepower (580PS), Novitec's version boasts 830 horses. That's a heck of a lot of muscle to channel to just two driven wheels, made possible (if not necessarily wise) by a pair of superchargers. It also features a center-exit variable exhaust system fashioned from inconel, a full aero kit, a refitted interior, a suspension dropped by 35 millimeters (1.4 inches), and a new set of wheels measuring 20 inches up front and 21 at the back. Here's hoping whoever buys one has the skills it'll invariably take to keep from crashing it.
