Harley-Davidson has been working on the LiveWire for years and the motorcycle manufacturer has finally revealed the production bike and some preliminary specifications. Set to be launched next year, the LiveWire is unlike any previous HD model as it has an electric powertrain. This isn’t just a fluke as the company intends to be the “world leader in the electrification of motorcycles” and expects to offer a full range of electric models by 2022. Getting back to the LiveWire, the bike has been designed for the “urban street-rider” and it features an evolutionary design which some classic HD styling cues. While engines are typically one of the more prominent features on motorcycles, the LiveWire doesn’t have one so it’s lithium-ion battery pack takes center stage. What you’re looking at is apparently the world’s first ‘Fun Utility Vehicle’ (FUV), dubbed the Arcimotor SRX and revealed at the LA Auto Show. As you can see, the SRX is half motorcycle and half car. It consists of two seats, traditional motorcycle controls, two wheels at the front, and one wheel at the rear. The SRX is also fully-electric. According to the company, founded a decade ago, the SRX features a dual electric motor system that accelerates the trike to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.5 seconds and through to an 80-mph (128 km/h) top speed. The base model will travel roughly 70 miles (112 km) on a single charge while the extended range option bumps that up to 130 miles (209 km). The base price for the SRX starts at $11,900 and deliveries have just commenced. When we think of Italian motorcycles, we tend to imagine Ducatis. But those aren't the only Italian motorcycles. Not by a long shot. There's Aprilia, of course, but also marques like Bimota, Moto Guzzi, and MV Agusta – which has come out with what could very well be the most Italian motorcycle we've seen yet. Celebrating their name tire-supply deal, MV Agusta teamed up with Pirelli Design to create the Brutale 800 RR Pirelli edition. It's based on Agusta's street-fighter bike, wearing Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP rubber on 17-inch wheels – the one at the back measuring half a foot wide. The bike's done up in matte black with either red or blue trim, extending not only to the motorcycle's body graphics but also to the sidewalls of the tires, just like Pirelli does for Formula One. Following the recent launch of the BMW M5, the German automaker has unveiled the MotoGP Safety Car version, set to premiere at the championship’s final round in Valencia, Spain. The specially-equipped M5 will be used throughout the 2018 season and replace the current BMW M2 Safety Car used. Compared to an entry-level M5, the MotoGP Safety Car comes equipped with all the available M Performance Parts, including carbon fiber on the side skirts, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, front kidney grille and wing mirror caps. Additionally, it includes a titanium M Performance exhaust system, carbon fiber tips, a bespoke front splitter, bonnet latches and seats from the M4 GTS. Additionally, the car has been equipped with an LED light bar on the roof, blue LEDs in the front grilles and flashing headlights. Yamaha makes motorcycles. It may make cars at some point, if recent concepts lead anywhere in the near future. But this one bridges the gap between the two. With four wheels, the MWC-4 may appear closer to a car (missing some parts), but is closer in concept and execution to a motorcycle (with some extra components added). Like a Renault Twizy, it features tandem seating, a windscreen, fixed roof, and open sides. But it's controlled by handlebars (not a steering wheel), and actually leans into corners (instead of staying perpendicular to the road surface). The MWC-4 is little longer than a Twizy, but about the same height, and a fair bit narrower. Power comes from a pair of electric motors, with a gasoline engine on board to serve as a range extender. And the design looks considerably more aggressive than the Renault – or anything this side of a Decepticon, really. The partnership between Mercedes-AMG and MV Augusta is over as the automaker has sold its 25% stake in the motorcycle manufacturer. The two companies joined forces back in 2014 when they signed an agreement which called for a "long-term partnership" that mainly focused on sales and marketing efforts. At the time, Mercedes-AMG Chief Executive Tobias Moers said “In MV Agusta, we have found the perfect two-wheel partner for Mercedes-AMG. This manufacturer with a long tradition and Mercedes-AMG are connected not only by a long and successful racing history, but also by shared values and goals for the future – allowing the experience of utmost perfection, optimal performance and motorsport technology for the road." The Ducati Diavel, some would say, is roughly the two-wheeled equivalent of a Lamborghini sport-ute. This version, though, looks even more sinister. Crafted by Belgian customizer Fred Krugger, the Thiverval is based on the award-winning design of the XDiavel. The custom ride leaves the big engine in full view, with the trellis frame hidden to accentuate the sleek lines. The tank and tail, with its integrated exhaust and single seat, meanwhile, have been completely rebuilt, and the whole thing has been decked out in gloss and matte black with chrome trim. Borrowing its name from a race track on the outskirts of Paris, the Thiverval was presented just this past weekend at the Bikers' Classic at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit, home to the Belgian Grand Prix, and goes to show that the Europeans can do heavy metal just as well as the Americans can.
