Audi’s New Limited R8 Decennium Pays Homage To The V10 Engine

Image
Audi revealed the new limited Decennium edition of the R8 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the V10 engine that powers its supercar. Available solely as a coupe, the R8 V10 Decennium looks special from the get-go, thanks to its exclusive Daytona Gray paint finish and the milled matte-bronze 20-inch wheels. The intake manifold of the engine is also finished in the same bronze hue, while exterior features such as the front spoiler, the side sills and the diffuser are painted gloss black. The side blades and exterior door mirror housings are made out of gloss carbon fiber. Inside we get an entirely black cabin, featuring inlays of carbon fiber and a diamond-quilted stitching pattern for the seats. Contrast stitching in gloss copper can be found on the gear selector and the steering wheel, which also comes with a black 12 o’clock marking. Other model-specific parts include a special logo on the center console, the doors, the inlays on the carbon sill trims and elsewhere...

Meet The New V10-Powered Italdesign 2017 Supercar

Image
Following an extensive teasing campaign, Italdesign have finally unveiled their latest ultra-limited series car. Set to premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, starting with March 7, the as-of-yet unnamed machine is part of the company's newly launched brand, the Italdesign Automobili Speciali. As it was initially announced, only five units are to be produced, before the end of 2017, and all of them will feature the same aggressive carbon fiber body that sits on top of a modular chassis and is 4,847 mm (190.9 in) long, 1,970 mm (77.6 in) wide, and 1,204 mm (47.4 in) tall. At its heart, it carries a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, whose specs have yet to be released. Nevertheless, we're probably looking at the same mill that powers both the Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8. Italdesign may not be keen on telling us how much power the unit produces, but the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time takes just 3.2 seconds, with the top speed standing in excess of...

2017 Audi R8 Spyder Opens Up In New York City

Image
The new R8 Spyder is finally uncovered via official channels - because unofficially we got the chance to  see it in full  a lot earlier. The main figures are: 540hp from the  naturally aspirated V10 engine , 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 198mph (318km/h). Audi went for a lightweight cloth top, just like the previous model, which needs 20 seconds to open and close in speeds of up to 31mph (50km/h). The rear window is individually retractable, meaning that it can be lowered, even with the roof up.  “With its spontaneous throttle response, quick revving-up and inimitable sound, the 5.2 FSI naturally aspirated engine in the new Audi R8 Spyder delivers undiluted emotion,” remarked Dr.-Ing. Stefan Knirsch, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development. “Compared to the R8 Coupé, the engine sound in the open high-performance sports car now delivers an even more intense experience.” Compared to the previous model, Audi says that they have increas...

All-New 2017 Audi R8 Spyder – This Is It!

Image
No need to wait for an official release on  Audi’s next generation R8 Spyder  as we nabbed the car totally undisguised out on the streets of Germany. Just like the previous R8 Spyder, the new model employs a good old-fashioned canvas roof that neatly tucks away behind the passenger compartment and under a retractable panel above the engine, which itself, has a very similar design to the outgoing model with twin vented buttresses on either side.  Audi also transferred the engine vent from the top of the trunk lid on the coupe to in-between the  tail lights on the Spyder , but the rest of the car, including the interior, remains unchanged.  The new R8 coupe lost 66kg (145 pounds) over the older car, so we expect similar savings on the Spyder. The gloss black exterior trimmings, including the side blades and exhausts, along with the additional buttons on the steering wheel inside, confirm that this model is the ‘Plus’, which is powered by a 610PS (602hp) and 560...
