Rivian R1T: A $61,500 Electric Pickup That Shoots To 60 In 3.0 Sec

The dawn of the electric pickup truck is upon us, as Rivian has just unveiled their take on the segment in the R1T, which has been dubbed an ‘Electric Adventure Vehicle’ with a range of more than 400 miles (643 km) and enough room to seat five adult passengers comfortably. The R1T is one of two all-electric cars that Rivian will showcase at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, the other one being a fully electric SUV called R1S. “I started Rivian to deliver products that the world didn’t already have – to redefine expectations through the application of technology and innovation. Rivian R1T Electric Pickup Teased, Debuts November 26th

Set to be unveiled on November 26th, the electric pickup will have a unique front fascia with a slender light bar and that connects two vertical headlights. The latter components have four stacked lights which are surrounded by an outer light ring. Additional styling details are hard to make out, but the model appears to have small side mirrors and a plastic front bumper. We can also see a contrasting roof, a relatively small bed and full-width taillights. Little else is known about the truck, but previous reports have suggested the model will be about the same size as the Honda Ridgeline and have a base price of approximately $50,000. The entry-level truck is also slated to have an 80 kWh battery pack, a range of around 200 miles (321 km) and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of less than five seconds. There could also be a high-performance model which costs around $90,000 and has a larger battery pack that enables the truck to travel 450 miles (724 km) on a single charge. The r...
