Jaguar XE 300 Sport Debuts With 296-HP 2.0 Turbo And Unique World Record

Image
The covers have just been taken off the new Jaguar XE 300 Sport, complete with the brand’s most powerful four-cylinder Ingenium engine. The model, designed to slot below the V6-powered XE S in the family, pumps out 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque from its 2.0-liter mill. Unlike the XE S which features rear-wheel drive, grunt from the four-cylinder is funneled to all four wheels, allowing the sedan to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.4 seconds. A number of styling elements distinguish the XE 300 Sport from other variants in the range. For example, there’s dark satin trim on the wing mirrors, spoiler, and front grille surround. Additionally, the car is offered with model-exclusive 19- and 20-inch wheels. Customers can choose between Yulong White, Indus Silver, Santorini Black, and Caldera Red for the exterior paint. Buyers of the XE 300 Sport will also be welcomed by some changes when they step inside, including contrasting yellow stitching on the steering wheel, seats, and door in...

Porsche's 2018 911 GT2 RS is not only the most powerful 911 ever, but also the fastest one on the Nurburgring. Moreover, it's also the fastest rear-wheel drive production car to have lapped the famous German track, after it managed to cover the 20.6km (12.8-mile) run in just 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds. Thanks to this impressive achievement, the supercar proved that it's just 1.4 seconds slower on the Nurburgring than the electric NextEV Nio EP9, and faster than the Radical SR8LM, Lamborghini Huracan Performante, and basically all other high-performance machines. "At the start of the development process, we set ourselves a lap time target for the GT2 RS of less than 7 minutes and 5 seconds", said Porsche's Motorsport and GT Cars Vice President, Frank-Steffen Walliser. "The credit for beating this target by 17.7 seconds goes to our development engineers, mechanics and drivers, who demonstrated an exceptionally strong team performance." For t...

Bugatti Chiron Sets 0-400-0km/h World Record

Image
More than a year after it was presented in full, the Bugatti Chiron has finally set out on a record-breaking spree. With Juan Pablo Montoya in the driver's seat, the megacar proved that it needs only 41.96 seconds to go from 0 to 400km/h (248,55mph) and then back to 0, in a distance of 3.112km (1.933miles). The 400km/h (248.55mph) mark was reached 32.6 seconds / 2,621 meters (8,599feet), after which the 41-year old Colombian stepped firmly on the brakes and brought it to a complete stop, helped by the rear wing and special carbon discs, with titanium pistons. This is "the fastest time ever reached and officially measured for this driving maneuver for a production vehicle throughout the world", in Bugatti's own words, and it represents "the first step on the way to a new world speed record for production vehicles", which takes place in 2018. The run was supervised and officially certified by SGS-TUV Saar, a world leader in inspection, t...
