New 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE Revealed

The latest generation the Camaro ZL1 was the top dog of the range on the track, but apparently, Chevy had other plans up its sleeves. Making its debut today at the Daytona International Speedway is the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE, an even more hardcore version of what was already labeled by many as a track monster. We had actually caught the Camaro ZL1 1LE back in October of 2016 while testing, but at the time, we had wrongly assumed it was a mule for the next Z/28. Chevy uses the 1LE packages on the standard V6 and V8 Camaros to improve their handling, and it promises to do the same with the ZL1 adding special aero technologies, an adjustable racing suspension, exclusive tires while also reducing weight. “The track-focused 1LE package offers progressive levels of performance across the Camaro lineup, from the V6 1LE to the SS 1LE,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “But with the new ZL1 1LE, the progression takes a quantum leap — this is the ultimate track-day Camaro.” Ac...

2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Hits 60 In 3.5 Seconds, Priced From $62,135

If you've been waiting with baited breath for more stats on the latest high-performance versions of the 2017 Chevy Camaro, your wait is now over. Chevrolet has released some key figures for both the Camaro ZL1 and the 1LE package, and from the stats, both look poised to deliver the goods. The top-of-the-line 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 will rocket to 60 in 3.5 seconds, come back to a half in 107 feet, blast through the quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds, and round the skidpad at 1.02 g (Coupe version with the available ten-speed automatic transmission). This with the  650-horsepower output  confirmed, even higher than the 640 horses  initially announced . Of course the 220 pounds of dead weight Chevy managed to trim certainly plays its part as well. All that performance capability doesn't come cheap, mind you: the ZL1 coupe carries an MSRP of $62,135, while the convertible commands a more princely $69,135.  That's a heck of a premium over the base Camaro, which starts at just...
