Production 2020 Honda e Bows With RWD, 0-100 KM/H In 8 Sec

Image
We already knew that the Honda e Prototype was going to be 99 percent identical to the production car – and now we have official confirmation. The carmaker has released the first images of the e in final mass production form, and the EV looks just like the pre-production concept that previewed it. The Honda e will debut officially at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week. Honda will offer two electric motor options, one delivering 100 kW (136 PS / 134 hp) and the other 113 kW (154 PS / 152 hp) and a peak torque of 315 Nm (232 lb-ft), with the latter being quite brisk, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 8 seconds. The battery has a capacity of 35.5 kWh and is described by the automaker as one of the most compact in its class. Despite that, it delivers a range of up to 220 km (137 miles) from a single charge which Honda believes is “perfect for every day urban commuting.” Thanks to fast-charging capability, the battery can be recharged to 80 percent capacity ...

Honda e Prototype Previews RWD Electric City Car For Europe

Image
The wait for Honda’s first electric vehicle for Europe is almost over as the automaker is gearing up to reveal a near-production concept at the Geneva Motor Show. The carmaker has just released the first exterior shots of the study that’s called e Prototype and the good news is it sticks pretty close to the Urban EV Concept from 2017. However, it’s not quite as dramatic looking as said study. Honda says the e Prototype evolves from the Urban EV, and a closer look reveals some key differences. For example, it features rear doors with “hidden” handles and smaller, front-hinged doors at the front. As a result, the overall proportions of the car lean towards a more practical approach rather than a sporty one. Another big change concerns the rear end, where the study’s squared taillights have given way to round units that echo the design of the headlights. While looking all cute and friendly, the Honda e Prototype is tech-savvy at the same time. It features “pop out” door handle...

Opel Ampera-e Debuts With 500+ Km Range

Image
Said to offer " the feistiness of a sports car " and an impressive zero-emission driving range of more than 500 km (311 miles), the Opel Ampera-e has taken the  2016 Paris Auto Show  by storm.  Chevrolet Bolt's European brother promises to offer at least 200 km (124 miles) of additional range on top of the  BMW i3 , in the NEDC test cycle, but since this " does not truly reflect everyday reality ", as the Germans admit, the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure) driving cycle has been used and the results are now " closer to real driving behavior ".  After taking into consideration the road characteristics, weather conditions, load influence and the most important factor - driving style, it has been estimated that the  all-new Opel Ampera-e  can travel for more than 380 km (236 miles) in the real world, thanks to the 60 kWh batteries, which are integrated in the underbody.  " Our Ampera-e is not eco-luxury, not...
