Infiniti’s vision for an electrified future looks a little something like the QX Inspiration concept, unveiled just now at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. Size-wise, the QX Inspiration is described as a mid-size SUV, serving as a precursor to Infiniti’s first fully-electric model. It’s also bold, stylish and has a very clean, yet futuristic interior, guarded by coach doors. As for performance, the automaker claims the concept will lead to a high-performance, high-range EV. “The QX Inspiration marks the beginning of a new generation of Infiniti cars and establishes a direct blueprint for the brand’s first electric vehicle. Infiniti will unveil a brand new concept vehicle dubbed QX Inspiration at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. According to the Japanese automaker, this concept serves as a preview for upcoming high-performance, high-range electrified vehicles, while also signaling a new era in terms of design. As you can see, the QX Inspiration boasts a sharp and futuristic exterior with a high shoulder line. We can also spot cameras instead of wing mirrors, which is a clear indicator as to where we’re heading when it comes to future cars – in time, we suspect most if not all automakers will adopt this solution, not just the likes of Audi or Infiniti. By developing new EV platforms, Infiniti will aim for their vehicles to feature spacious, lounge-like interiors. Infiniti is going to reveal a new crossover model at the Detroit Auto Show this January and is considering an all-electric vehicle too, according to the company’s boss. Roland Krueger, who spoke to  AutoNews , declined to say whether the new crossover would be a concept or a production model. He did say though that the car they are bringing to Detroit is going to play off  the QX Sport Inspiration concept , shown back in September at the Paris Motor Show.  "We've given some hints in Paris, but we will be a little more specific in Detroit, showing that we focus on the growth markets and the growth segments," Krueger said. "The main topic is definitely the growth in SUVs." Infiniti revealed a new mid-size SUV concept named the QX Sport Inspiration today, prior to a world premiere at the Beijing Auto Show on Monday. The sleek SUV, certain aspects of which may or may not remind some of you of the  Maserati Levante , gives us an idea of how future crossovers from Infiniti could look like - in particular, the next QX70   “The QX Sport Inspiration expresses power and purpose through what we describe as its ‘proportional clarity’, with an elegance that is uniquely Infiniti,” said Infiniti design boss, Alfonso Albaisa. “The exterior design will appeal to an artistic sensibility. This is our first look at a concept that previews Infiniti’s new mid-size premium crossover.  Named the QX Sport Inspiration, it’s demonstrating the brand’s “Powerful Elegance” design language, though this first rendering is obscure and doesn’t really show much. What we  can  see are the oversized hallmark grille, slim headlights, vertical side air intakes in the front bumper and the heavily sculpted bonnet. “The QX Sport Inspiration expresses a power and purpose that is uniquely Infiniti”, said Infiniti Executive Design Director Alfonso Albaisa. “With a flowing, natural aesthetic, this concept demonstrates how Infiniti can offer something new and exciting with future QX SUV models.” Our best guess is that the production car will come sometime next year and will serve as a replacement to the ageing  QX70  that might have been  revamped  recently but actually dates back to 2002.
