Infiniti Is Bringing A New Crossover To Detroit Auto Show
Infiniti is going to reveal a new crossover model at the Detroit Auto Show this January and is considering an all-electric vehicle too, according to the company’s boss.
Roland Krueger, who spoke to AutoNews, declined to say whether the new crossover would be a concept or a production model.
He did say though that the car they are bringing to Detroit is going to play off the QX Sport Inspiration concept, shown back in September at the Paris Motor Show.
"We've given some hints in Paris, but we will be a little more specific in Detroit, showing that we focus on the growth markets and the growth segments," Krueger said. "The main topic is definitely the growth in SUVs."
Infiniti wants to boost its presence in the light-truck sector of the market, an area that accounted for 61.2 percent of its US sales through November. The QX Sport Inspiration concept was seen as a preview of the model that’s going to replace the aging QX50.
Krueger also said that the company is looking into some “very concrete” concepts for an all-electric vehicle, as the electrification technology is increasingly moving mainstream. "It's going to be both HEV, and also we are looking into concepts for EVs," Krueger said. "These are very concrete concepts that we're looking at."
