DS3 Crossback Goes Official With Petrol, Diesel And EV Powertrains

Image
DS has officially unveiled the all-new DS3 Crossback. Featuring “distinctive sculptural styling,” the crossover has a prominent grille which is flanked by DS Matrix LED Vision headlights and vertical LED daytime running lights. The Crossback also has plastic body cladding, a relatively flat roof and a controversial ‘wave’ accent near the B-pillar. While the styling won’t win everyone over, the model has flush-mounted door handles which are similar to the ones used on the Range Rover Velar. They automatically deploy when the crossover is unlocked and then retract when the vehicle is locked. Moving into the cabin, drivers will find a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display and a 10.3-inch infotainment system. Other highlights include a flat-bottomed steering wheel, diamond-shaped air vents and a 12-speaker Focal audio system. DS didn’t say much else about the interior, but the boot holds 12.4 cubic feet (352 liters) of luggage and the company paid particular att...

DS E-Tense FE 19 Looks The Most Batmobile-Like Yet

Image
A lot of cars get compared to the batmobile. Pretty much anything that looks cool and is painted black. Matte black especially. So we’re not going to draw that comparison, but Formula E will. In revealing its new Gen2 car, the racing series referred to its “batmobile-like bodywork.” And we’re not inclined to disagree, but DS Automobiles (the premium offshoot from Citroën) has taken it a step even further. The French automaker is the latest to have revealed its take on the next-generation electric racer, and it’s decked out in matte black and gold. Less like some Mansory monstrosity, and more like… well, the Batmobile. With some of Bruce Wayne’s gold thrown in. Of course, the paintjob isn’t the only thing the PSA brand has imbued on the Spark chassis. The engineers in the DS Performance division have drawn on their three years of experience in the series to develop the new DS E-Motor 19 powertrain, the transmission and cooling system to go with it, their accompanying electro...

This Is The DS E-Tense Electric Sports Car

Image
Bringing together state-of-the-art technology and avant-garde design, the  new DS E-Tense  was presented over the web ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut next Tuesday. DS Automobiles states that the show car, which is 4.72 m long, 2.08 m wide and 1.29 m tall, draws its power from a 402 HP and 516 Nm (381lb-ft) of torque electric motor, which allows a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint made in 4.5 seconds and  a top speed  of 250 km/h (155 mph).  Sending juice to the electric powertrain is a lithium-ion battery, fitted under the vehicle's monocoque carbon fiber chassis, that provides a total range of up to 360 km (224 miles) in the urban cycle or 310 km (193 miles) mixed.  The E-Tense is a GT with a sculpted and aerodynamic design that echoes the styling of the  Divine DS study . Motorsport influences can be seen at the rear, where there is no windscreen, as it was replaced by digital rearview technology, while the central rear foglight is similar to a Fo...
