Almost four years after being showcased as a prototype, the 2021 Lucid Air has been unveiled in production-ready spec. The advanced electric sedan brings with it class-leading technologies, an eye-catching design, and four different variations suiting different budgets. As recently revealed, the Lucid Air has a 113 kWh battery pack coupled with a pair of electric motors producing up to 1,080 hp. In flagship Dream Edition guise, the Air can accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 2.5 seconds and sprint down the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds at 144 mph (231.7 km/h). It has a limited top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h). Other variants to be offered include the entry-level Air, the Air Touring, and the Air Grand Touring. Electric automaker startup  Lucid Motors  has just taken the covers off its very first model, dubbed the Air. Teased on multiple occasions in recent months, the Lucid Air will  directly target  top-of-the-range Tesla Model S versions and a number of ICE executive sedans. Priced from around $160,000 in the U.S., it doesn't come cheap but does promise a lot. For starters, the Lucid Air is powered by two electric motors, one driving the front wheels and one powering the rear, making for a grand total of 1,000 hp. Customers then have the option between a 100 kWh or 130 kWh battery pack, the latter of which provides a range of up to  400 miles  on a single charge. Like the Model S P100D, the Air's dual electric motors make it exceptionally quick in a fast line. Capable of travelling 315 miles (506 km) on a single charge, the Tesla Model S P100D has a range equivalent to many ICE vehicles. Not satisfied with just matching that figure however, electric startup Lucid Motors says its Model S rival will have a range exceeding 400 miles (643 km). Electrek  reports that the standard model from Lucid will offer a range similar to the Model S P100D as its battery will also be about 100 kWh in capacity. However, an optional battery pack will be made available with 130 kWh of juice on tap, allowing for the 400+ mile range. Lucid  has created its battery packs alongside Samsung SDI and claims that they will be the most energy dense in the automotive industry and resistant to damage associated with fast-charging. Just a few days after an image of its Tesla Model S rival  leaked online , electric car start-up  Atieva  has been rebranded as 'Lucid Motors' and dropped a selection of teaser pictures of its first model. The brand's first car, the Atvus, will adopt similar proportions to the Model S but have a unique design characterized by short and rear overhangs and angular surfaces, drastically different to the smooth and flowing panels of the Model S. These images preview a selection of the model's key styling traits, such as its glass roof, white and aluminum seats and fully digital gauge cluster.  It is understood that the Lucid Motors Atvus will feature an 87 kWh battery pack, possibly working in conjunction with two electric motors to output the equivalent of 900 hp.
