Amazon Previews The Second Season Of The Grand Tour

Image
Amazon Prime Video has released new pictures from the upcoming season of The Grand Tour. Set to hit the streaming service later this year, the second season will see Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond visit more locations than last year including stops in Colorado, Croatia, Dubai, Mozambique, New York, Spain, and Switzerland. In total, the hosts have spent more than 100 days in four different continents. Amazon is keeping details under wraps but confirmed the trio will explore the mountain ranges of Colorado, get stuck in the mud in Mozambique, and cause havoc in Dubai. The photos also reveal the hosts will check out the Ariel Nomad, torture a Mercedes station wagon, and spend some time in a number of different Jaguars. Besides teasing the upcoming season, the company announced a new book called The Grand Tour Guide to the World. Set to be released on October 31st, the book bills itself as an "indispensable guide" with an "abundance of info...

The Grand Tour Season Two Is Coming In October

Image
The first season of The Grand Tour left a lot to be desired but the next installment of the series is coming sooner than some might expect. During an appearance on The One Show yesterday, according to Digital Spy, may reportedly said "October is when you'll first be able to see it but after that, you'll be able to see it whenever you want, of course. I'm told to say that!" The co-host wouldn't devolve clues about the upcoming season but confirmed it's "quite an expensive show to make." As he explained "There's a lot of travel involved. There's a lot of crew involved. There's a lot of tech involved, filming in 4K." While some fans weren't fond of particular parts of the show, namely celebrity brain crash and the annoying comments of fake Stig, May promised changes are coming. Saying "It's going to look largely the same", the former Top Gear host confirmed "we've moved it on a bit in a way....

My Take On: The Grand Tour's (Unfulfilled) Potential

Image
Around 15 years ago, the BBC started a new car-themed show called Top Gear . The show had 3 hosts, named Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. I started watching the show around 12 years ago, and I loved it, simply because it was about 3 men having fun, driving great (and ridiculous) cars, and bringing some humor while doing it. I've been watching this show for 11 years! Regularly. Then came a time when many people complained about some of the jokes being repeated over and over again. And despite feeling the same thing, I continued to enjoy what was the best motoring show....... in the world. During their many years, they made us laugh by tripping over themselves, made us cry (remember the Aston Martin video ?), raced a McLaren F1 against a Bugatti Veyron and raced a Veyron against a Jet fighter, and some washing-machine style aircraft. They made us realize that cars are more than just something to get us from point A to point B, and why we love them so much. Bu...

Opening Scene From The Grand Tour Cost $3.2 Million To Film

Image
According to reports, the  opening scene  of The Grand Tour cost over 2.5 million pounds ($3.2 million) to film and produce. UK publication  The Sun  says that the scene was filmed in the Californian desert and depicts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond driving three modified Ford Mustangs with a further 150 cars, 2,000 petrolheads, six jet planes, acrobats and stilt-walkers in toe. It is claimed that the Mad Max-style opening “is the most expensive ever seen on the small screen”. While the budget for the new Amazon show has never been confirmed, it is apparently in the region of 160 million pounds ($200 million) which spread over the confirmed three seasons works out to 4.5 million pounds ($5.7 million) per episode, significantly more than the BBC ever provided Top Gear with. Beyond its dramatic opening scene, the only other thing known about the first episode of The Grand Tour is that the studio segments were filmed in the crew's tent in  Johann...

Clarkson, Hammond, and May finish shooting first Grand Tour episode

Image
Just as the dust has settled after  BBC Top Gear's  latest, controversial season, something new is on the horizon.  The Grand Tour , the upcoming show hosted by Clarkson, Hammond and May, has finished shooting their first episode in Johannesburg, South Africa. The idea behind the show is that the three stooges literally do a grand tour, taking their studio with them in a large tent around the world. These first images released by Amazon Studios depict the tent in location with three pickup trucks parked beside it. A Mitsubishi, a Land Rover Defender and a Toyota Land Cruiser are some of the best choices for negotiating the South African terrain, and we can imagine the three hosts using them as a plot device for this episode. A tent bearing the T and G letters, just reversed, is probably a breath of fresh air after the trio spent years and years shooting in an aircraft hangar in Dunsfold, England. Still, as the Grand Tour show is all new, we don't expect it to be identi...

Jeremy Clarkson reveals logo for The Grand Tour

Image
It may have taken the trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May a  long time to name  their new Amazon show, but the gang did a good job with  The Grand Tour . As outlined by a  previous tweet from Clarkson , the name fits the show as the ex- Top Gear  hosts will be traveling from place to place to shoot episodes. Now, the team has decided on a logo, which looks like something straight out of the '80s. Clarkson  took to Twitter  to reveal the white, orange, and black logo, which definitely has a nostalgic flair to it. In light of  all of the hoopla circling   Top Gear , in both the UK  and U.S. , it's a perfect time as any to reveal the logo. The Amazon Prime series is set to debut in August with filming for the first episode  set to tape  on July 17 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

TG Becomes GT As Former Top Gear Crew Name Amazon Show The Grand Tour

Image
After months of coming up with  ridiculous names  for their new Amazon Show, Clarkson Hammond and May finally got it: The Grand Tour -  TGT  for short or  GT  for those of you who like sticking their tongue in their cheeks.   It might not impress and excite at first, but the show’s name hides a comprehensive and captivating theme behind it, as it will feature short films shot in different locations around the globe, while the studio audience portion will also take place at a different location around the world every week,  as Jeremy Clarkson  cared to explain: “Thing is, we’ll be travelling the world hosting each episode in a different country, from a giant tent. It’s a sort of ‘grand tour,’ if you like. So we’ve decided to call it ‘The Grand Tour.’” Like on Top Gear, the pre-recorded studio segments of the program will be filmed in front of a live audience, all housed within a giant tent – so, if you were wondering what possibly can ...
