Hennessey Venom F5 Debuts With 1,817 HP And Targeted Top Speed Of 311+ MPH

Designed to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary, the Venom GT successor is named after F5 tornados which have wind speeds of up to 318 mph (512 km/h). That wasn’t an arbitrary decision as it hints at the car’s targeted top speed of more than 311 mph (500 km/h). In order to hit that impressive number, the car has been equipped with a specially developed 6.6-liter V8 engine known as the Fury. It’s hand-built and features a cast iron block, aluminum cylinder heads and a dry sump lubrication system. The engine has also been equipped with two turbochargers which enable it to be the “most powerful production road car engine ever made.” In terms of raw numbers, the engine develops 1,817 hp (1,355 kW / 1,842 PS) and 1,193 lb-ft (1,617 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a seven-speed semi-automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. Hennessey Venom F5 Twin-Turbo 7.6-Liter V8 Unveiled With 1600+ HP

Hennessey has used Monterey Car Week to unveil the engine that will power the Venom F5. Since the company has previously said the F5 aims to become the “first road car capable of achieving more than 300 mph (482 km/h),” it needs a massive engine with huge performance numbers. That’s exactly what was unveiled today as the engine is a twin-turbo 7.6-liter V8 that is capable of producing more than 1,600 hp (1,193 kW / 1,622 PS) and 1,300 lb-ft (1,760 Nm) torque. To put those numbers into perspective, the Bugatti Divo has a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine which produces 1,479 hp (1,103 kW / 1,500 PS) and – presumably – 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque. However, that particular car will be limited to 236 mph (380 km/h). Getting back to the Venom F5, the engine is made from a billet aluminum block and features steel cylinder sleeves as well as a 9.3:1 compression ratio. Hennessey Reveals Carbon Fiber Interior Of Venom F5

Shortly after Hennessey premiered the Venom F5 at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Texas tuner has released the first images of the hypercar’s interior. Like a recent teaser image indicated, the cabin of the Venom F5 is dominated by carbon fiber and looks to be a serious improvement over the Venom GT in terms of overall quality. Unsurprisingly, the cabin is quite narrow and consists of two bucket seats which appear to be fixed to the floor. Elsewhere, the Venom F5 includes a narrow, carbon fiber transmission tunnel that runs up to a large touchscreen housing the car’s infotainment features. Elsewhere, we can see a trio of air vents arranged in a similar format to the tailpipes. Two different steering wheel and gauge clusters will be offered to customers. The first sees the fitment of a carbon wheel with a flat bottom and top. It is then joined by a digital gauge cluster. Hennessey's all-new hypercar, the Venom F5, was built with just one goal in mind, to be the fastest road car in the world. With a top speed in excess of 300 mph (482 km/h), all we can say is they've done it! In order to achieve such high speeds, the Hennessey Special Vehicles team had to come up with a brand new design, chassis and carbon fiber body, so as to have the lowest possible drag. "We expect the Venom F5, named for the most powerful tornado speed winds on the Fujita scale, to be the first road car capable of achieving more than 300 mph and have worked closely with Pennzoil to get us across the finish line," said company founder and CEO, John Hennessey.
