Mercedes has unveiled the new GLE Coupe and GLE 53 Coupe. Designed to battle the BMW X6, the redesigned crossover coupe has an evolutionary design with a bolder front fascia that features a more prominent grille and restyled LED headlights. Moving further back, there’s a more rakish windscreen and 19- to 22-inch alloy wheels. Of course, the biggest change is the dynamic roofline which gives the model a coupe-like appearance. The sporty styling continues at the rear as the crossover has bulging fenders for a “ready-to-pounce look.” There’s also slimmer taillights and a liftgate with an integrated rear spoiler. Last but not least, the GLE Coupe has a chrome-plated accent that wraps around a dual exhaust system. Compared to its predecessor, the new GLE Coupe is 1.5 inches (39 mm) longer, 0.3 inches (7 mm) wider and has a wheelbase that has been stretched by 0.8 inches (20 mm). After a drawn-out teaser campaign and a comprehensive development cycle, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLE has officially premiered prior to the Paris Auto Show in early October. With one quick glimpse of the new GLE, it is easy to notice the differences between it and the outgoing model. Mercedes-Benz says the SUV’s design is “based on the harmonious interaction between emotion and intelligence” and is “characterized by timeless beauty, a combination of high-grade technology and craftsmanship and reduction to what is really important.” While we think some of that wording is a little strong, there’s no doubt this is an altogether better-looking package than the GLE this new model replaces. At the front, Mercedes-Benz has incorporated a set of more appealing headlights as well as a redesigned grille and faux air intakes. Elsewhere, new wheels, available in sizes between 18- and 22-inches have been designed while an evocative C-pillar helps to transform the vehicle’s rear half. ...

A production-spec version of the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has been photographed wearing a thin disguise that reveals many new details, including a better look at the front and a nearly unobstructed view of the rear and profile. We can’t shake this feeling of how much this prototype reminds us of the smaller GLC crossover. It’s a little more elegant, yes, but the overall shape is similar, as is the tailgate and even the taillight design. At the same time, the GLE’s rear lights seem to be less bulky with pointier endings than the GLC. The sharper front fascia incorporates a mixture of GLC and all-new CLS styling cues with extra large openings on the bumper, while on the sides, the new C-pillar of the Mercedes-Benz GLE looks very similar to the current generation. This is the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 43, a performance-oriented variant of the German SUV set to replace the GLE 400 by early 2017. The new GLE model is the ninth AMG 43 model in the Mercedes range, as the company unfolds its plan to expand the AMG portfolio. Powered by a  biturbo 3.0-litre V6 unit , the new GLE 43 offers 362hp and 384 lb ft of peak torque, sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. “The expansion of the AMG lineup underscores the ongoing demand for performance-oriented vehicles, especially for SUVs,” said Branden Coté, AMG Manager. “AMG is well-positioned in the US marketplace due to our nine new AMG 43 vehicles, four of which are performance-oriented SUV models.
