Aston Martin Vantage AMR Gets 7sp Manual, But Only 200 Will Be Made

Image
The Aston Martin Vantage AMR has just been unveiled as the first variant in the new Vantage family to be sold with a manual transmission. Like the new Vantage we’ve all come to know and love, the Vantage AMR is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine pumping out 503 hp and and 460 lb-ft (625 Nm) of torque. This engine is mounted as low and as far back in the chassis as possible to give the British sports car a near perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The big difference with the Vantage AMR and the regular model is that the former comes standard with a motorsport-inspired seven-speed manual transmission from Graziano. This gearbox features a dog-leg first gear with second to seventh gears in a traditional double H-pattern configuration. Mated to the stick shift is a limited-slip differential which funnels power to the rear wheels. In ideal conditions, the car will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and continue to accelerate through to a 195 mph (313 km/h) top s...

Aston Martin Valkyrie Gets AMR Track Performance Pack

Image
Aston Martin has confirmed reports that the road-legal Valkyrie hypercar will be available with an AMR Track Performance Pack. The British automaker has also detailed the personalization programme for the vehicle. As the name of the AMR Track Performance Pack suggests, it will make the road-legal Valkyrie that little bit faster on a racetrack but not quite rival the track-only Valkyrie AMR Pro. The performance pack includes a new aerodynamic front clam to improve downforce and efficiency, lightweight titanium brakes, matte black magnesium performance wheels, a carbon fiber aero wheel disk set, and track-focused suspension. Aston Martin says the alterations will make the Valkyrie roughly 8 per cent quicker than the standard model. Customers that opt for the AMR Track Performance Pack will also be provided with a second set of all exterior body panels. The track-only components can also be quickly interchanged with the road-legal parts. As you would expect from a hyperca...

Aston Martin Rapide AMR Debuts In Limited Numbers With 603PS

Image
Aston Martin‘s second AMR product, after the DB11, has arrived in the form of the Rapide. Previewed by the concept car shown in Geneva last year, the British machine continues to pack the same naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 engine. The unit now makes 603PS (595hp / 440kW) and 630Nm (465lb-ft) of torque in Euro-spec, and 588PS (580hp / 433kW) for the rest of the world. The extra muscle comes via the larger inlet manifolds, with tuned length dual inlet runners that enhance the airflow. Also, the engine and eight-speed gearbox have been recalibrated. Thus, Aston Martin claims the 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint takes just 4.4 seconds, the 60mph (96km/h) mark is hit in 4.2 seconds, and top speed is 330km/h (205mph). In order to handle the power boost, the Aston Martin Rapide AMR benefits from three-mode adaptive dampers, a 10mm (0.4in) lowered ride height, and standard carbon-ceramic brake discs. Available in four color schemes, the car also has a few exterior changes that h...

Aston Martin DB11 AMR Debuts With 630 HP And 208 MPH Top Speed

Image
Aston Martin has officially unveiled the new DB11 AMR at the opening of the AMR Performance Center at the Nürburgring. Combining power and elegance, the DB11 AMR features an upgraded twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine that produces 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a recalibrated eight-speed automatic transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 208 mph (334 km/h). The performance improvements extend beyond the engine as Aston Martin says the chassis has been refined to offer a “greater sense of connection without harming the supple ride.” The company was coy on specifics but the model features a limited-slip differential and adaptive dampers. On the styling front, the DB11’s chrome brightwork has been replaced by gloss black accents and exposed carbon fiber components. As a result, the AMR features a dark front grille, a carbon fiber splitter and black headlight su...

Aston Martin Vulcan Gets Even Wilder With AMR Pro Upgrade Pack

Image
The track-only Aston Martin Vulcan has just received a major upgrade package from the company’s newfound AMR performance sub-brand. The package focuses on extensive aerodynamic enhancements for more downforce and shorter gearing for better responsiveness, acceleration and faster lap times. The naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 remains unchanged, offering 820hp and 575lb-ft (779 Nm) of torque. The front end now features new louvered panels above the front wheel arches which help in extracting high-pressure air and reducing lift, with a pair of dive planes added to the sides of the nose. The front splitter has also gained turning vanes for better steering response. At the rear there is a new wing with a dual plane design, with its main element featuring a 20mm ‘Gurney’ flap supplemented by slotted wing endplates with additional 15mm Gurney flaps to increase downforce as much as possible. Aston Martin reckons that the overall downforce has been increased from the original 3150N...
