Audi A6 e-tron Concept Gives Us An Electrifying Preview Of The Next A6

Image
Hot on the heels of last week’s Q4 e-tron and the e-tron GT from earlier this year, Audi has unveiled the A6 e-tron concept at the 2022 Shanghai Motor show. It’s said that the only thing this concept shares with the “traditional” A6 is its dimensions, measuring 4.96 m (195.3 in) long, 1.96 m (77.2 in) wide, and 1.44 m (56.7 in) high. It’s a bold statement from a company that intends to offer more electric vehicles to US consumers than any other luxury brand by the end of 2021. The A6 e-tron concept previews the first Audi to be built on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform. Others expected to join in 2022 will be the Q5 e-tron and Q6 e-tron. The platform has been developed together with Porsche and will also support the next generation electric Macan. Audi says they will unveil the first production vehicles based on the PPE platform in the second half of 2022. The concept’s design looks like it’ll stick around largely unchanged for a production version. Although this is dubbed ...

The Genesis X Coupe Concept Is A Strikingly Handsome Grand Tourer For The Electric Age

Image
Genesis has unveiled a new concept car called the Genesis X in Los Angeles. The electric grand tourer demonstrates its design intentions for its upcoming vehicles. Only the fifth concept in the young company’s history, the Genesis X works on a “Two Lines” theme. Low and broad, the car continues a number of Genesis design cues, like the crest grille and the two lines, while moving the design into the future with the sleek coupe. “The Genesis X can be described as the ultimate vision of Athletic Elegance,” said SangYup Lee, head of global design for Genesis. “The signature Two Lines theme and sustainable luxury will be the blueprints for the futuristic designs and state-of-the-art technologies that Genesis seeks to adopt in its future models.” The crest grille, for instance, combines new and familiar. Though its shape is recognizable, it features a 3D G-Matrix pattern that was designed to accentuate how futuristic this electric concept is. The hood and fenders are also one piece, creatin...

Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept Previews Brand’s Styling, Tech And Performance Future

Image
This is the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept which the automaker says incorporates driving performance, styling, and advanced technology set to be realized by 2025. Underpinning the concept is a battery-electric vehicle-dedicated platform that uses the company’s DIRECT4 four-wheel driving force control technology, making the most of the instant responsiveness of an electric motor’s force to freely control the concept’s wheels. Lexus adds that this technology controls the distribution of power across the wheels and can operate in front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive configurations. Lexus hasn’t provided all that many details about the car’s key hardware components, other than the fact that it features a steer-by-wire system. The Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept previews the evolution of the automaker’s design language. With a silhouette that reminds of coupe-crossovers, the front of the concept features an iteration of the brand’s spindle grille which, since this is an all-electric vehicle an...

Nissan Z Proto Combines Retro Styling With Twin-Turbo V6 And Six-Speed Manual

Image
The Nissan 370Z was introduced over a decade ago and it’s well past its prime. While sales have tapered off to a trickle, the company isn’t ready to give up on the iconic Z car. Instead, they’re previewing the next-generation model with the retro-inspired Z Proto. Billed as a “thoroughly modern sports car” that pays respect to 50 years of Z heritage, the Z Proto sports a bright yellow pearlescent exterior which recalls the one used on the original sports car. The paint job isn’t the only retro touch as the hood mirrors the original, while teardrop-shaped LED headlights recall the JDM 240ZG of the 1970’s. While the rectangular grille is reminiscent of the outgoing model, designers added fins which are a nod to the past. Likewise, the roofline and greenhouse recall those used on classic Z cars. The rear end is a bit more modern as it draws inspiration from the 300ZX and features distinctive taillights which have been “reinterpreted for the modern world.” They’re framed by black surround ...

Jeep Grand Wagoneer Concept Previews Truck-Based 2022 Model

Image
After a long wait, the beloved Jeep Grand Wagoneer nameplate is back, albeit as a near-production concept vehicle. Judging by what this “concept” shows us, the full-size premium SUV will be a promising offering when it enters production next year as a 2022 model. The new Grand Wagoneer is a tech-laden, plug-in hybrid concept that features the industry’s first passenger infotainment screen in an SUV. The 10.25-inch screen allows occupants to watch media, browse the internet or find destinations and send them to the driver. The passenger-side screen is shielded from the driver by a privacy film on the glass, allowing them to focus on the 12.1-inch center console display and the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel instead. Additionally, there’s a 10.25-inch horizontal comfort touchscreen below the central display for controlling the seats and the four-zone climate control. There are more screens inside the Grand Wagoneer than in the new S-Class, as second-row passengers also have three 10....

Apex has officially unveiled the new AP-0 concept, following a slight delay related to the coronavirus. Designed to preview a production model that will be launched in late 2022, the AP-0 is an electric sports car that is “race-inspired and road legal.” Packed with personality, the AP-0 has a striking design that looks fast even when standing still. Since the car is electric, it eschews a traditional grille and instead features narrow slots which channel air through the vehicle and out the hood. The car has also been equipped with digital side mirrors and a teardrop-shaped glass roof with an aerodynamic rear fin that draws inspiration from Formula 1. There are also butterfly doors as well as 19- and 20-inch carbon fiber wheels. The sporty styling continues at the rear as the concept has an enormous diffuser. However, the most unique styling feature is the taillights which are bound to draw attention...
